    Thanks for the advice, Dizzyblonde.
I'm doing my Wk 3, run 3 today. so will be hitting Wk 4 on Fri/Sat

Not sure if I'll be posting much over the next week or so (found out today my mum is having heart surgery tomorrow :(, so will be at hosp a lot). Am going to try my best to stick with the running, as think it will be good for clearing the head. Keep your fingers crossed everyone.

Look forward to hearing your run updates when I get chance.

I am thinking of you and your mum mumto2.

I am ashamed to say I did not get up early enough to do my run on monday :o.I took the kids out for the day and played football with them and we walked around a large country park so I did get some exercise!
I haven't run now since last week and have decided to start again from week2 run 1...to put it bluntly its been a bit of a disaster:(.
I have decided to get myself an mp3 player which should make things a bit easier when I start again. All that faffing around with a watch was a pain and I kept loosing track of where I was! I would have no chance once it gets to the weeks with different lengths of running/walking.....
Everyone is doing so well and I really want to do this (even though my legs have other ideas:rotfl:)
so Monday when 2 of my 3 are back at school I am going to do week 2, run 1 again.

Nevermind bertiebots. Hopefully it will be easier next week. I think having a mp3 player will help too. I like it when the man says "just one more run you can do it etc etc":)

I had a stressful day at work, and my new running shoes came (:j) so I went for a short run. I love my new shoes.

Wow Juno, I've never seen shoes like that before! Do they take any getting used to??

Mumto2 - Hope everything goes well for your mum (((hugs))) :)

Bertiebots - It doesn't matter how many times you fall of the horse - as long as you get back in the saddle, thats what counts.

Great advice dizziblonde. To add my experiences, I have tried a similar plan in the past (couple of years ago) and use to time with a watch, and then I gave up. With the MP3 version, you don't need to worry about the timings. I'm on Week 4 now and I've definitely noticed that when I'm running I'm concentrating more on my rhythm and breathing and not thinking about the time and how long I've got left. I do love these podcasts and on the Week 4 ones on the last 5 min run he says to push yourself for the last minute, and I actually do!! I manage a little sprint, and then subsequently collapse lol.

I'm def a morning run person as I know that I would have no energy to run at the end of the day. I find it easier to set the alarm earlier, then chuck my running gear on and straight out the house within 10 min. Then when I get home I can jump in the shower and resume my daily activities, knowing that the exercise is over and done with!

    Happy running all :)

Yes. They don't advise you to go for long runs for a few weeks. And you have to adjust your running style, but at the same time it's not really a conscious thing as your body does it automatically. I normally run up the hill on my toes, but that hurt my calves so after a few steps I stopped. Running down the hill, I couldn't go faster just because it was downhill. But overall running seemed easier and more natural; I even managed to do speed work at the end with a huge grin on my face and I usually hate it.

They're not thick soled because that's not the point, but they are thick enough so that you don't have to worry about treading on things and it hurting/going through. I run next to a road so there are loads of small stones etc, but they didn't bother me more than usual.

And for those that understand washing symbols, two dots in a trapezium with a wavey top, and something that looks like a grill.

Hi. Juno, those shoes look very interesting. I like the colour, too.

Mumto2, hope all goes well - very worrying time for you.

I did my 3rd run today. Am actually quite surprised that I got up to do it! I don't normally do mornings well! There are very few people about before 6am, which is an advantage. Today I only saw 1 old man walking his dog, and one other man on his way to work - fortunately both while I was on the warm-up walking bit.
  • Juno those shoes are so cool! Are they comfy?

I did wk2 run1 today - it went ok, I didn't find running for 90 seconds too exhausting :rotfl: However I then went on to do a hour-long legs bums & tums class - it is the closest I have come to death :D - maybe next time I'll do either a run OR a class - not both!!!

oh dear. Well this morning I finally got up early enough to do week 1 run 1! I have discovered that I am horrendously unfit. The first running interval I had a go at.. more of a jog but I thought I should pace myself, 45 secs in I wouldnt have been able to talk but the voice tells me I should still be able to talk whilst doing this, but I finish my 1st interval then walk through the next 3 getting my breath back. Once I am breathing relatively normally I thought, "I'll give it another go" needless to say I walked the rest.
I am very overweight at 21 stone 12lbs, BMI 47 and body fat of 46%, so I am going to amend this programme slightly to my needs. I needs to do this a bit slower. Infact if I can work out how I am going to record my own podcasts so I can time myself.:rotfl:
Oh well as they say "you never know until you try". I will keep up with this just at a different pace to everyone else. So those of you who are able to complete week 1 run 1 I am jealous, you guys are so lucky! I cant wait to be as fit as you :D
