belfastgirl/teachergirl - how long has it taken you to build up to running for that length of time? How have you found it - has it actually gotten any easier?

I'm having a dilemma, I got my e-mail through, which said I should run today but have a rest day tomorrow, problem is my legs are quite achey from yesterday's running/walking (and actually, my stomach muscles are a bit too, I must've been running a bit funny! :o), I'm debating whether to have the rest day today and run tomorrow, or if I should stick to the plan??

    Any thoughts anyone??

    xx

I started just before christmas which means I'm on week 7 after about 15 weeks :o in fact I didn't realise it was quite that bad till I checked it. I also noticed that I started week 5 on 20 February which means that it has taken me 6 weeks to do week 6 and start week 7 :) though I did have an injury and a bad cough during that time. But hey even if you do go via the scenic route you still get there, right? :D

I don't know if it's got any easier, to be honest, that's not exactly how I'm thinking about it. I'm doing it in spite of the fact that it isn't easy. Or maybe even because of it. I ran 2.5 miles the other day. I still can't quite believe that. It just doesn't seem like something I could ever do :T and I think this is what I'm enjoying most about this, feeling that I'm taking on something that's a real challenge for me and achieving it, however slowly.

I reckon if you're still feeling sore, hold off. But then again I'm trying to decide the same thing myself and might just be using you to give myself a way out!

That's exactly how it is for me, Belfastgirl. When I decided to do this, I didn't tell anyone except OH. However, I've been spotted by the neighbours (acting very suspiciously!). I'm so proud of my achivements, but feel so silly when they ask how I'm doing and I say 'I ran for 3 minutes today!'
Makes me realise that each challenge is personal to the individual and not to measure by your own standards.
That's why I love it on this thread as we're all starting from the same state.
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

As my youngest is only 2 and doesn't go to nursery, I had to rely on him for childcare - otherwise I would have done exactly the same!!!

I can tell I'm getting more confident as I'm venturing further afield. :D

And you didn't have to come peel me off the path :D

Quite proud of myself, wasn't so sure I'd manage it.
