Hello
I wish I had the discipline to go running before work but I can barely get up in time to throw clothes on!
Just start off slow, you can build the pace laterJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Hi ticklepenny,
Welcome to the club! Good for you - just remember to take it slowly and do lots of stretches (and prepare to be stiff the day after!)
Good luck - let us know how you get on.Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
Welcome ticklepenny. Join the club. Drea have you eaten your banana and nuts?
Today I have made up for slobbing on the sofa yesterday. I have run 2.3 miles and walked 3.9 miles. Now everything hurts and I am going to slob for half an hour before I start tea. I think a bit more balance would be good.
Looking forward to hearing how everyone gets on.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Well done Teachergirl. I'm also making up for yesterdays curry and have already done 41kms on the bike!
How do you measure how far you are walking/running?
I'm on a rest day today, but will be doing Wk3, Run 3 tomorrow - hopefully with more enthusiasm than yesterday. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -

I have indeed. Been feeling very lethargic in work today so hopefully the walk home perks me up a bit! No excuses, I will be out tonight! Whether I finish the run or not is a different matterJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Hi there mumto2 . I spent my christmas and birthday money treating myself to a polar heart monitor and a foot pod. They are not cheap but I find them really motivating.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

Afternoon all!!
Sounds like you're all keeping the motivation going!! :j
belfastgirl/teachergirl - how long has it taken you to build up to running for that length of time? How have you found it - has it actually gotten any easier?
I'm having a dilemma, I got my e-mail through, which said I should run today but have a rest day tomorrow, problem is my legs are quite achey from yesterday's running/walking (and actually, my stomach muscles are a bit too, I must've been running a bit funny!), I'm debating whether to have the rest day today and run tomorrow, or if I should stick to the plan??
Any thoughts anyone??

Teachergirl - very high tech! Given the trouble I had with hubbies ipod, I'd better stick with mapmyrun.com!
crap-with-money - if it was me, I'd have a rest day. The program a lot of us follow is 3 times per week, so definatley a rest day after each run.Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
hi there crap-with-money. I have been doing this for just over 8 weeks.(I'm on week 6) I have followed the plan more or less exactly except for a couple of weeks where I was bogged down with a horrible virus. It has got easier than my day 1 where I was in so much pain I found it hard to sleep or walk or move.(Pathetic isn't it?) This is why I like our plan though because it does build up slowly.I agree with mumto2 and I think you should listen to your body. The problem with doing too much too soon is you might find it too difficult and then just give up altogether.
mumto2 gadget lover here but it is simple once you've got the hang of it.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0
