I don't think so as long as you vary the intensity - maybe you've been bitten by the running bug - can you send it in my direction please :-)

Really stressing about my week 3 run tomorrow. I'm wondering if what I eat during the day has an effect on how easy/difficult I find my run? I seem to be much better at weekends than I am during the week. I am at work all day but it's in an office so I'm just sat on my bum :rotfl:

Maybe I'm better having dinner then waiting until later to do my run rather than going straight from work... I don't know.

Really don't think I'm going to manage it!

Wk2 Run 2 tomorrow... I'm starting to feel like I want to run everyday. Would that be bad for me? :o

I think it's recommended you have at least 2 days off a week, but I think more is probably better. You can damage yourself by running too often... I think...

Try having a snack about an hour before you leave work and run after work - something like a banana and some nuts with plenty of water.

I'm joining everyone who is dreading their next run. I have slobbed all day today:o
re running every day .I think when you are starting to get fit you have to allow your body time to rest between runs. Your heart has to work harder to run and your body has to adjust. As you get better it takes your heart less and less time to adjust so then you can/could run everyday. The whole idea of the nine weeks (and I am really not an expert) is that by taking it slowly you can acheive it Don't I sound like a boring old so and so?;)
I find running first thing in the morning is best for me. I am far too tired to run at night and I usually end up falling asleep on the sofa after I have driven the kids here there and everywhere, worked and cooked for everyone.
Keep going everyone. I promise to be less grumpy in the morning..:D
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D
  • Drea - I reckon what you eat during the day definitely has an effect on how you feel when you're running! Do you drink plenty water whilst you're at work? If you're going before your dinner, you could maybe try having something like a banana an hour before you go - or as random as it sounds, my brother used to have a bowl of porridge 1.5-2hrs before he went running, regardless of the time of day! Although he was running quite a distance generally!

As for taking time off, I guess the key is to listen to your body maybe? If your muscles are sore it's maybe best to hold off 'til the following day, or if you start running for the second day on the bounce but find you're toiling, maybe just stop and walk - it's still exercise and still increasing your overall cardio fitness.
  • Sorry skintlass I cross posted with you! That's what happens when I'm gabbing to OH whilst posting!! ;) Great minds think alike though!!

Well, I was up at 5.30 this morning - did 2nd run (ever!) But I managed to do all of the run bits, so was very pleased. Also not quite so puce-coloured at the end!

Thanks all, I'll buy a banana and some nuts on my way into work in the morning and see if that makes a difference. I walk home before my run too which is a 30 minute walk, I wonder if that affects me more than I think...

I'd take my running stuff into work and basically run home but I have my bag/jacket and things with me so it wouldn't really work out.

Ok so week 1 run 2 this morning - got up 15 mins earlier and walked the dog first before going to the gym and doing the run. My walking was slower this morning but I kept the running at the same pace.I still ache all over :-(. Thursday is the next run.
