Couch to 5k Running - Part Two

Hello there completelylost. (Sorry was not ignoring you we must have been posting at the same time.) Listen most of us felt like that at first and to be honest sometimes we still do. Your first mistake is going out with someone who jogs 4 miles a night:D that is complete madness for a newbie. However nice they are.:)
The plan that we are following allows us to start from absolutely nothing and build up slowly . Have a look at the link. In the first week you only ever run for a minute at a time with a one minute walk imbetween and then you slowly build up. As the title suggests by the end of nine weeks you should be able to run 5k . I'm only at week 4 and I have to say a 5k run still feels a long way off but I do know I am fitter than I was and I hope to be fitter still in a few weeks.
If it is any consolation after my first run I thought I was going to die. For the next two days I walked around work as if I had been hit by a bus. I made all the classic mistakes trying to run too fast, not stretching etc etc:D
Anyway welcome. We look forward to hearing about your next run!Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -

Newbie here... although I'm not following this plan, I might start (I always read the title... never actually clicked to find out what it was all about until tonight!)
I've just gone out for my first jog (ever... in my life!) & I'm so embarrassed. I went with a friend who usually run 4-miles a night.
I honestly felt like I was having a heart attack, and that was just small bursts of jogging and then some walking. I think I managed to do about 1-mile, but I'd say I only jogged for 100metres at a time before I felt like I was going to peg out.
Did anyone else feel like this when they first started?I mean, is this normal?
If it wasn't normal it wouldn't be called couch to 5k now would it lol!;):rotfl::rotfl:.....its ok you are not alone:pJAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

Thanks folks. I still feel like a complete slobHonestly never realised how bad I was... I've had a look at the podcasts, and don't think I was even running for 60 seconds, and then was walking a lot. I was surprised I was so bad though, because I walk a few times a week.
Tonight has made me determined to keep with it. Oh, and the person I was with wasn't pushing me, they were actually telling me to slow down0 -
Wow, you've all been busy.
Welcome to Completely Lost, Paddypaws and Artybear. I was you a couple of weeks ago and have just finished my second week. I definitely feel a little fitter already. I agree with the others - remember to stretch before and after. And don't try and jog too fast. I do jog quite slow - slow enough that my dog only has to have a slight trot to keep up with me :rotfl:
So, week 2 finished for me :j Had a sneaky look at week 3, and 3 min of running  Thats double my 90 seconds lol. Oh dear. Well, I have a break over the weekend and then back to it Monday.
Artybear - I use a very small cross body bag as I need to carry car keys, dog lead, iphone and dog poo bags. It does jiggle about a bit though, so I've just ordered a small waist bag type thing which should be a bit more stable.
Anyone got running planned for the weekend?0 -

Hello everyone:wave:
I have been lurking for a few days and now have decided to join!
Im at family for Easter but from Wednesday I will start this. Just wondering about a few practical questions. Do you all hold your ipod? Where do you put keys etc..? And do you need water?
Hope you dont mind me jumping in:o:)
Hi I have only just started (have done week 1 run 1&2) I drive to the local country park a few minutes away to run because its nicer.
I put my car key on a length of ribbon and put it round my neck so it hangs down my back, been ok so far (I leave the house key in the car) . I have an MP3 player which I just put down the front of my bra! I take a small water bottle and just carry it.
Good luck and have fun!0 -

I am slightly achey today, tooThough to be honest, I was expecting my legs to hurt more than they are. I think I will be ok to run tomorrow (is it advisable to run if there is any pain? just wondering).
