it just goes from bad to worse, my cal deficit last week was 19k cals which is 5.4 lbs and even ignoring all the other weight i have not lost (about 10lbs) i have had my worse week ever, this is the first time i have not lost weight.

what the !!!! is going on, this is sole destroying :(:(:(:(:(

the worst part is this is my midpoint, 6 month mark, and if this continues I will fail my modest target for this year :(:(:(

Poor eric - its 2 steps forward 1 step back for you these days isn't it? Do we need to threaten you with a collective spanking again?;)

FWIW my weekend indulging has resulted in me feeling like a sack of crap this morning. Woke up in the night with stomach cramps, paid several visits to the smallest room in the house and ended up taking a loperamide this morning just to try and hold it all together. :o Its not dodgy food cos we all ate the same yesterday and everyone else is ok, and OH is usually the first one to "react" at anything slightly iffy (you should see the food we waste in this house). Gingerly eating fruit this morning to stave off hunger pangs (not that I have an appetite) and still feeling rough. Might help tip the scales back in my favour this week (literally!);)

Hope everyone else is having a better day :D

I did the race for life today :D 47 minutes to do 5k in this blistering heat. I didnt think it was bad because i have a stinking cold and was blowing my nose most of the way around! Plus ive never run 5k in my life so this was quite an achievement for me. We then went to my friends grandmothers house where she has a pool, it was luuuuuurrvely!!

Vix congratulations on your run! Definitely a fantastic achievement! Hope you enjoyed the day :D.

Eric it sounds to me like your metabolism may have gone into slowdown mode. I get this all the time, it's pretty much a permanent thing with me. I'm trying to shift only 2kg (to get back to the middle of my maintain range) and I've lost no weight at all this year despite creating a theoretical deficit 'worth' between 0.3-0.7 kg every week. The temptation is to eat less & exercise more but I've been there during 2008, doing shedloads of exercise on a tiny intake and I still didn't lose anything...! Anyway, I hope yours picks up soon as I know your timescale is important to you.

I don't just want too, I have to lose weight, I have arthritis in my right hip and both knees, I need to lose 4stone.

Several people have told me about a low carb diet, which sounds fine, except what do you do if you are cooking spag bol, what do you have in place of the spag, likewise I have porridge and 1 slice of wholemeal toast and coffee for breakfast....what do I replace the toast with, are you not allowed to eat any carbs, or just a few...help!!!!!!

We are both pensioners and do not have a lot of money to throw about. I have cut out the mid afternoon, cake, just have a cup of tea. I do buy or grow quite a bit of fruit and vegetable, so plenty of fresh fruit etc........but we have pasta a couple of times a week. usually with salad or a baked potato........I cannot afford to join a slimming club, to be honest I find those clubs very boring......I have a pair of weightwatcher scales which is handy. I was 13st 8 before we moved, having weighed myself recently I seem to have lost a stone.......
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Aye Im going to up my cals by 500 a day to 2000 (will still give me a deficit of 4lbs a week) and see what happens, it is too biased to the evening meal

Im just baffled if its the training, the drugs or metabolic shut down???

I may try oatibix for breakfast and just hope there gluten free, may pour protein milkshake over it instead of plain skimmed milk :) I just hope its not too many carbs ...

Argh just wrote a long message and then lost it all! :( so sorry if I miss anyone out of this I am now doing it from memory!

Hezza - hope you feel better soon.

victory - hope all goes ok at work today.

vixarooni - well done! I admire anyone that can do a run like that - I can't even run for a bus! enjoy Barca!

    Congrats Fellpony!!

Had a lovely weekend - park on sat, seaside on sun. Caught the sun a lot but didnt go pink which is nice (thanks to the factor 30!) Eatign wasn't great - all my meals were SW-friendly (salad, pasta, chicken, bbq meat and potatoes) but the snacks were not (ice cream, biscuits, chocolate!) so I'm just going to put it all down as lots of syns and get back into it this week. It's hard to avoid syns when you're eating out but I'm glad I didnt go into total relapse as I used to when I thought I had 'failed'. Stayed positive and didnt go too mad. :A :rotfl:

There are plenty of diets around. I heard weight watchers is the best.

I stick to a low carb diet as I am diabetic and that is what my nutritionist suggested. My blood sugar is almost normal after 2months, and I lost 7lbs in 2 months (my bmi to start with was 20.5) so 7lbs is a lot to lose. If I ever come off the diet for a sneaky treat my blood sugars rise so high. So its life long thing for me.

Instead of spaghetti for spag bolagnase I'd just have veg. There are loads of low carb message boards, Pm me if you wish to know.

Let me tell you low carb is boring lol
