Well done to all the losers and STS this week - looks like its going to be a rotten weekend weather-wise so I'm sending out good vibes to all to ensure we don't over-indulge-comfort-eat this weekend! (could do with saving some vibes for myself!) I've treated myself to a Green & Black's dark choc egg so I wont be tempted to share the kids eggs - of which no doubt there will be plenty!! - OH is getting a giant bar of fruit & nut all to himself so my choccy egg will be all mine!! :D

Sary - I've been drinking decaf tea for months now and I honestly cant tell the difference between that & normal tea; if I do have normal tea (either by mistake or cos there's no other choice) then I get a slight headache about an hour afterwards so I know it. Have you tried herbal/fruit tea? I confess I'm not a big fan, I do have green tea sometimes (though there is caffeine in as as with most fruit teas) and I have some camomile tea on stand by in case I get a headache & can't face normal tea.

Had a 6-hour round trip "oop north" on business yesterday which meant a early-o'clock start, late getting home and not much in the way of healthy eating in between though I did try, I can almost feel myself slipping back into old habits so I've given myself a good talking to; the last office job I had I put on over a stone due to too many temptations with restaurants, cafes and vending machines. My working wardrobe is slightly too big and I want to treat myself to some new threads when the time comes so I do NOT want to be browing plus-size rails again!

We're off to see MIL this weekend, she's been really poorly these last few weeks and really struggling with too many changes to her medications, so I'll be in the M&S food hall tomorrow to see if I can find some scrummy tempting treats for her.

    Have a great Easter everyone!!

I have now read the Harcombe Diet book and it just isn't for me - the thought of never having bread with cheese or curry with rice or spag bol again just puts me off! I think SW has the right idea with the EE plan and it does fit very well with family life. So back to writing everything down that passes through my lips - I suspect I will find I was having a few extra syns here and there without really registering it in my head:mad:

    Sigh
    Marion

Hi Marion - I just thought I'd paste in the following quote from THD website forum, written by Zoe Harcombe, which may inspire you or anyone else wondering about THD. For me this shows that there's nothing faddy about THD at all and yes it may be hard to get your head around or even come to terms with, but after so many years of being seduced by The Diet Industry into eating processed rubbish, this is why it really rings my bells. It's worth noting that Zoe Harcombe had a history of eating disorders in her youth:-

"Your starting goal should be to harness all the energy going into any 'bad' behaviour and turn it into nourishing behaviour. No more starving/binging. No more eating anything processed with horrible ingredients. No more feeling guilty/beating oneself up etc (we know what we do!) Only preparing healthy food so you are never caught out; eating really well, really regularly, so your body starts to love you back; becoming aware of the enjoyment that can be had from literally nourishing and being nice to yourself. Treat yourself as you would your child and bad behaviour can't continue! The weight and cravings will get sorted along side if you see the diet/lifestyle principles as the way of being nice to yourself."

  • Hi everyone!

    Congrats to the losers!!

I did weigh in yesterday and last week and forgot to report, but I was STS both weeks so it makes no odds really! I'm just pleased that I seem to have stopped gaining...now I just need to get it moving in the other direction!! (I empathise with your comment, Fi).
I have decided that "April is the new January" and will be resurrecting the new year's resolutions. I have reduced the dosage of the medication I take which should hopefully make me more energetic and less hungry, so coupled with the lighter evenings and it getting warmer I think I'll find it easier to make better choices and be more active.

New York was awesome, loved it! Although the seven hour flight  did seem a bit excessive for the sake of three nights away!! Did lots of the typical sightseeing things and had some quality time with my sister who I hadn't seen for almost 18 months. However, i did get a bit of a talking to from my family about how I must lose weight...not very helpful when you're in the middle of a meal in a restaurant and I started to cry...how embarrassing :o

Hope the new jobs are going well Hezza and Vix, hope you're better now Eric, and hello and hugs to everyone else!

Mazza have you been to the salsa class yet? What did you think? I started salsa just over a year ago and I absolutely love it!

PepPop I do martial arts too and I don't consider myself a violent person. I guess it depends on the style to you and how the instructors formats the class, but for us the main focus is learning technique rather than beating each other to a pulp. I would recommend going along. If you don't like it then you don't have to go back and at least then you'll know.

Hope everyone has a really lovely long weekend :j:j:j

Heather, no not yet, it starts this month sometime, will need to check with the big sis and get the exact date of it. Quite looking forward to it though, I'd do anything for a few giggles :rotfl:
