2 days to go till my exam and I think I'm nearly there with my revision; just 2 more plays (both of which I already know) and a couple of poems to analyse which hopefully I can get done today. Fortunately I have next to nothing to do at work so have been able to squeaze some research in between thumb-twiddling. Last day in 'work' today then 3 days off, so tomorrow will be all about consolidation, practice questions and getting myself organised (I'm planning a trial run to the exam centre 20 miles away!), plus I have an appointment to get my hair done which always gives me a boost! On Friday I'm off for a spa weekend with a friend so plan to relax big time! Totally forgot its Fathers Day this weekend so taking OH & family out for dinner Sunday evening. They have been great over the last week or so, working round me while Ive had my head in my books, so they deserve a treat anyway.

But the thing I'm most looking forward to is..... reading 'normal' books again!! I have a huge pile of books next to my bed that were given to me for my birthday in March that I haven't touched yet - can't wait for Thursday night!!

    Onwards! Time to look busy!!:D

Have you ever considered going on a lower carb diet? It may be that your body does not like carbs especially refined carbs.

My body certainly seams a lot happier on reduced carbs and not eating any refined carbs, I am on about 32% carb intake at the moment.

Hi Eric - Yes I did try a low carb diet once, but it was LOW as in zero rather than just reduced, and it nearly killed me! I read all these books and articles on how we are addicted to carbs and sugar and it turns out to be definately true about me as I went completely nuts after 24 hours! Felt so ill I spent the entire day in bed then gave up and had some pasta!

The thing is I know it's bad for me but I have accepted that it's something I just need in order to keep going. So I am trying to be good about what carbs I have - Brown/multiseed bread and high fibre cereal, etc. The only problem is OH won't eat brown pasta! (and even I have to admit it's not as nice as the white stuff!)

But you are right I could probably do with only having carbs with one meal a day rather than all three - or with two out of the five small meals. will give it a try and see - but I'm not sure what my options are without my failsafe wholewheat bread!

What do you have instead of carbs with your usual daily meals? Or do you just have a lot less of the carb element and more meat/veg?

    B.

PS - Good luck in your final days of revision Hezza! The best bit is being able to celebrate when it's all done! :)

True we probably have much different body shapes etc, just made me feel a bit less alone knowing that someone here is the same age and size/weight as me. Need all the motivation I can get at the mo - seems to be the more I concentrate on 'dieting' the more i eat and more i weigh! :(

Am going to try to cut out alcohol for a while and see if that helps speed things up. I want to lose 1 stone by August - I think it's fairly realistic so long as i keep exercising regularly as that seems to make the biggest difference for me. the more i do the better i feel and the less i eat! Seems like thinking about dieting just makes me feel bad and then I eat sweet things to feel better :o

I am trying the lots of small meals idea to see if this gets me through the day without snacking on biscuits!!
    today's plan looks like this:
    10:00 Cereal and skim milk
12:30 Seeded Bagel and low fat cream cheese
2:30 Salad with low fat dressing
    4:30 yoghurt or small snack
7:00 chicken with rice and low fat sauce and veggies

    any thoughts or recommendations?
    thanks
    B.

PS - I made the Cook Yourself Thin version of Katsu Curry the other night, using cornflakes as breadcrumbs seems wierd but it was really nice and just like the real thing from Wagamamas but much lower fat and cals!!! :):)

I always go for the rule that if i exercise i can eat whatever after ive exercised but that has to be the only time.. I try to cut out carbs a bit but i just cant do it!! everything i eat has a carb attached! In the morning i have toast, at lunch i'll have a sandwhich and at dinner i'll have potato. Its a nightmare!! Im not on a diet, it just doesnt work for me. Im trying to make this more of a lifestyle change. Im going for a swim today at 2, i think maybe i should have lunch at 12 else i'll suffer with that in my stomach i think. Plus im a tiddle bit hungover from last night!!

Vix When I first started exercising I used to find I got really tired an hour or two later, used to annoy my friends if we were going out cos I'd practically fall asleep at the table. Luckily I seemed to have stopped this, which is good as I now exercise at lunchtimes sometimes and it would be bad having a nap at work.

Oh its nice to know this could be normal then... I think i dont realise how much the exercise effects my body, especially when i didnt do any before hand.
