Thanks - it did affect me quite a lot, the callers didn't seem to have any thought for the poor children they were talking about putting in care. I'm happy today.
You're right about people's attitude to the obese - being overweight is often associated with laziness and greed, and those labels don't apply to everyone.

Eric quick q - I thought BMI was weight in kg divided by height squared, is that not the same for everyone?
Hi everyone, I've been reading along but not much to contribute... weightwise I've changed from 6 meals a day to 5 to make it easier to reduce my intake a little more, and changed the 'main' meal from 5pm back to 2pm. I'll give that a go for a few weeks and see if these ridiculously stubborn couple of kg will start to budge!!!
Good luck with all the weigh ins tomorrow!0 -
Rats forgot it was weigh in tomorrow, this is not going to be good judging by my hangover on Sunday anyway! And I'v got another night out tomorrow. Was quite well behaved at last night's do but not 100% sure that will be possible tomorrow or that I will want to.0

Hi everyone!
Well very good and very rubbish day all at the same time. I have sold my house for only £2000 off the asking price and to the first viewer! Plus they are a really lovely young couple with a toddler and are first time buyers who even bought their parents with them for the second viewing and had all the same visions as I had when i saw this place (its huge and theres lots of different "knock throughs" etc that could be made to change things in the future, plus has been newly decorated which helps!) and their happiness was so contagious even i was talking all high pitched! Somehow it helps that I like them?! lol, and neither of us have a chain so providing all goes well I should be moved in 6-8 weeks.
Downside is, working out finances and dates of my overdrafts being reduced etc now im a graduate and not a student means unless I get a really good job I have no chance of getting them under the limits and therefore will be charged extortionate rates of interest next year which my payments will just about cover if im lucky with no chance of paying them off. Plus, I cant move back in with my dad to save any money and im moving back to one of the most expensive areas in the country so my living costs will be incredibly high with little chance to make significant payments on debts. My dad has said he will help me with rent till im sorted (which i appreciate) but theres everything else to pay still, gah.
Have a degree but no experience so no one wants to hire me in anything decent so im now applying for crap jobs at minimum wage just so im earning something and trying to stop myself getting in more debt. Giving up all my spare time to study and get through a degree with a good grade rather than saying "I have health problems I give up" or, if i was in full health working part time to earn money to party and rushing my assignments at the last minute means that I get punished by employers who should really be rewarding me for doing well no?
Oh well. Gonna do more crap job applications and exercise tomorrow and then a day of voluntary work tomorrow. Oh and take my dog to the vets, poor thing has a skin infection by the looks of it...lovely vet bill there but I dont believe in having pets if you dont look after them properly so i will find a way, somehow lol.0 -

Eric quick q - I thought BMI was weight in kg divided by height squared, is that not the same for everyone?
that is the system they use is a highly over simplistic formula that can be very inaccurate (they use a similar over simplistic formula for car stopping distances in the highway code which is so inaccurate it becomes a joke)
if you are very inactive (low muscle mass) or very active (high muscle mass) it will be wrong
all the docs and consultants i have talked to recently have said ignore it
i am going to base my goal weight on my actual lean mass + 15% body fat, my scales will give me a good idea as to what this, any decent gym will be able to calculate this for you accurately. I am trying to blag a go in the kit some of the hospitals have as they are very accurate. I want to deal with actual facts not fantasy formula
heres 9 reasons why you can ignore BMI

as a rough guide formula waist to hip ratio is better than BMI

pleased to report 4lb loss this week :T:T
which is on target so i am happy with especially as i am not supposed to exercise, although i was well enough to be able to sneak in a single long gentle walk, been too crap to be able to do it the rest of the time0 -
