Feeling healthier, motivation levels rising, more energy. It's amazing how good you feel after excercising as well.
I know they say you shouldnt weigh yourself first thing in the morning, but thats what I've done this time round so although i'll be lighter first thing, it's consistent from when I started.
As you say, initial good weight loss can make you feel good in what your doing, but one week i'll put in the same effort and stay the same or gain a pound or 2. It's important that I dont let that dishearten me when it happens (in the past, a gain has put me off completely).

i stayed the same last week because i weighed first thing--i re-weighed myself at lunchtime after i had let nature take me to the loo and i was down a kilo--i saw my dietician 2 weeks ago and was weighed at lunchtime so i restarted myself from that accurate time--she checks the calibration of the gyms scales regularly to equal her computerized scale so i will check myself then.-i posted too early in the day for some compulsive reason!!

Scots if your doing what is right for you you will shed the weight-a weeks sts isnt a gain--and if you gain you must look back to what you did differently (or didnt) and take action to make sure you dont do it again.--why i didnt change was intaking peanuts which 'stuffed' me on the Monday!

my target is to look good for this summer around the pool-last year i was MR blobby and didnt take my tee-shirt off to save frightening people-i saw the pictures my wife took and i think i did right.

My motivation to do more is now good against very lethargic before i started--i do some housework and do the grocery shopping daily with a walk to there and back--i teach kids and adults so i do move at other times, not just the gym.-its becoming very warm here so energy spent outside is hard work--its just 29 today but during the summer it peaks around 45 degrees and so doing things outside is quite restricted--the gym stays at a year round 24 and has an outdoor pool to be worth looking good around!!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

Well this week has been a busy one, I have read your posts with interest, Well done Scotsman on your weight loss. I hope your treadmill gets fixed soon Eric!

I am a STS this week again (thanks Fredsnail), I think I need to do a food diary again and find out what exactly I am putting in whilst I am not thinking!!

Here's hoping for a better weigh in for next week. I think I need to have a re-check of my BMR and all that goes with it.

Hope everyone else has a better weigh in than me :p

Good loss Scotsman! :D keep up the good work and dont lose heart if you start to slow down, but losing 4lb+ 2 weeks in a row is a great start!

Just a reminder to Fred that I'm starting from zero this week, the last couple of weeks I've been "off-piste" so to speak so I'm starting again from yesterday. Long long way from home today (turned into a regular event) so an early start with tea + banana on the train, just had porridge + honey on arrival at the office before I start my day full of meetings. Determined to stay focused tho' lord knows when I'm going to find time for exercise; must just be content with using the strais instead of the lift :D

Good luck with the WI's everyone!! ;)

 Can you put me down for a + 0.5lb please Fred - I'm blaming my strange week. Not as bad as it could have been but I'm back into it. Off to the gym again tonight and packed lunch in my bag. (Organised for a change :)) Off to update my signature

--yesterday on the cardio i burnt 960 --

If this is a gym machine reading do bear in mind that some of them can be a bit on the generous side! If I ate back every calorie the gym machines credited me with, I'd definitely be obese by now! :rotfl:

Even running flat out for an hour on a 10K pb attempt, I only burn about 500 cal. Some gym machines have been known to give me almost twice that for half the effort!!! (400 cal for 25 mins cross trainer, if only! :p)

Obviously being younger, taller and male you'll burn considerably more cals than I do, but just something to keep in mind!

Missy - what do you use to calculate how many calories you've burned for each exercise?

My actual body fat changes/results (combined with counting calorie intake). I've worked out my own formula for exercise based on heart rate & duration, which gets tweaked over time if I find I'm losing or gaining slightly. Otherwise if I'm maintaining as usual then I know I'm definitely not overestimating calories burned :).

Another thing to remember is a lot of the various calorie burn calculators use gross calories instead of net (i.e. they include the calories you would have burned anyway even if you'd sat still instead of exercised, which of course are already counted in your BMR - so don't count them twice!).

    gratz on feeling better :j:j

who says you shouldn't weigh yourself in the morning?

As far as I am concerned nakid first thing in the morning after ablutions and before eating and drinking is the only way to get your true weight, with out the added weight of food and water, consider it like the dry weight of a car without the added tank of petrol or boot full of junk.

isn't it that as long as you weigh yourself in the same circumstances every week, thats okay? so if you want to pile on 6 jumpers and a pair of safety boots, thats fine, but you have to do it every week!

day one went okay, did snack, but shared it with oh instead of waiting till his back was turned and scoffing hte lot.
