Hehe - I've seen that article before and similar ones for Tour de France cyclists, cross country skiers & the like, it's quite astonishing isn't it?!

What do you reckon his food bill comes to in a typical month?!!! :money:

for a guy to have a maintenance that low your either 4 foot tall or your dead and lying in a coffin all day

all your going to do is turn all your muscle and internal organs into fuel

    a 5' 0" 140lb man (1.5m 63kg) needs 2450 cals a day based on your level of exercise

Finally happy to report a 1lb loss even with a slight detour from healthy for 24hrs on Saturday. Really need to devise a foolproof strategy for dealing with days involving alcohol (except for not drinking) as my best laid plans seem to go awry each time. I think tomorrow I will try to make every other drink non alcholic.

    What are haribos??

    there very popular sweets

1700 is just rounded up from 1693

If your sedentary (sit in a chair all day watching TV / on a computer )you should be eating 2100 cals

If your lightly active which i suspect you are (walk about abit) then you should be eating 2400 cals

    It works like this

    RMR +2400 cals
    Exercise +1000 cals
    Healthy weight loss -500 cals

total 2900 cals a day you need to eat

2600 cals a day if you sit on your bum all day and do nothing part from your gym session

at a worst case scenario you could push it down to 2000 cals a day total you eat IF you eat a lot of protein (at every meal) to stop your body consuming itself

but your eating even less than this and I suspect without anywhere near enough protein

    Haribos are jelly sweets.

Happy to announce a 4.5 lb loss this week.

I've only made the gym once this week but my session in the garden more than made up for it lol. Prepping the ground, digging out boulders, old breeze block and hedge was definately enough to get my heart rate up. Post holes to be dug today and back to the gym tomorrow.

Thats 2 weeks of around 4lb loss, i'm sure it'll slow down now. Saw a post about weight loss compared to starting weight and I think when someone with a lot of weight to lose puts the effort in, they are changing what they do massively.
Realistically, I probably consumed around 5000 calories a day (that may be a conservative estimate, alcohol alone accounted for 1500 calories around 4 days a week). Excercise was no more than what I done on a day to day basis which was mainly walking.
I'm now approx 2500 a day, going to the gym 3 times a week, doing more around the house and garden and eating a lot more wholemeal/healthy food.
I've had the odd wee slip, but over 2 weeks, it's coming off. I'll keep going as I am until the weight loss stops, then look at my eating again.

Everyone keep up the good work

    rmr--1700 plus 1000- 500= 2200 ( i swim as well do the cardio)-apart from that i am knacked!
i cant imagine myself ever getting up to 2200!--i do want healthy loss though and sense i must tweak my consumption of calories upward--i have been led by my wifes diet and she is 5-3 and 58kgs!--i dont really crave more food but i do feel under energized until it comes to the gym work!!

well done scotsman--going well and i am sure you are feeling healthier in yourself.
i think the starting point of big or moderate loss to be made has pros and cons in both ways--its more mental desire and will power that keeps those figures tumbling!
i always thought haribos were lollipops but i am very detached here!(i couldnt imagine how lollipops came in packets!!)
İm going to weigh myself at lunchtime when i seem to weigh normal! the dietrician reset my scales at lunchtime to confuse matters
