Kids can be so cruel, they are so honest, direct, blunt, non thinking, uncaring, none of them realise what damage they can do with their words and actions

Lois my dad put me on a diet when I was probably about 10 or 11 because he didn't want me to grow up fat (though now I think I was about normal weight at that time). His idea of a diet was appalling and has left me with many scars I have had to grow up with- and guess what - I still grew up fat. He died 20 years ago and I'm still fat. I've had to get my head around what he did, how he made me feel and learn to stop eating crap to spite him - it's never going to spite him - only reinforce his views of me in my head and I have to live with the physical effects.

Kids at school were unkind - comments, name calling just reinforced things, and I was always an outsider. But I have 3 of the most fantastic friends anyone could ever have since infant school and they see past the weight and other problems and have made me value myself - it's taken a horrendously long time - but I'm in a good place headwise and jobwise.

Just need to get the rest of it sorted now - then I can club the nearest bloke over the head and drag him kicking and screaming home :rotfl::eek: - mind you I'm very picky :rotfl:

My mum put me on my 1st diet when I was 13, she made it clear that food was evil, I looked horrendous and she would make sure I only ate what was absolutely necessary and not a mouthful more, she made it excruciating but the weight came off and she was happy and I suppose in some way she thought she was doing right and saving me from the kids at school, parents don't think of the future damage just the imminent weight loss and never does it occur to them that the way they tackle it will be the way it is seen in later years, my dad never had an issue just loved me large or thin, my mum was more concerned with what people would think

I also thought that by buying a HRM that I would be doing myself a favour, but it sounds as though it might just complicate matters even more! What on earth is reliable enough

You don't have to go into loads of detail if you don't want to. I didn't count calories at all or log exercise properly for the first 2.5 stone of my 3 stone weight loss! When I did start going into more detail I found I enjoyed it, but plenty of people lose weight and maintain just fine without all the number-crunching. You'll find a way that suits you, it may take a bit of experimentation but you will! :D

Has anyone got an EasiYo yoghurt maker? They sell it in pots in the canteen at work and it tastes fine, I eat a lot of plain yoghurt so was wondering what's in EasYo but cant find a list of ingredients anywhere.

Sounds like a job for Eric :D;)
    Hi Hezza, welcome back!
I have an easyo and they are great. I use it to make my own yohurt with a dollop of bio yoghurt to start it off, dried milk powder and UHT milk. So we always have plenty of yoghurt. I have never used an easi yo sachet.

    Check their website:
    http://www.easiyo.com/range/lowfatyogurt/index_dynamic/containerNameToReplace=Middle/focusModuleID=3230/overideSkinName=product-full.tpl
this page shows the ingredients in their apricot yoghurt so seach the site further and I am sure you'll find all the ingredients in all their differnt flavours/natural
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

i have discovered that green tea with no milk quenches my hunger after work out and a bit of energy food-a banana!--i havent got a sweet tooth but i was getting pangs of hunger to eat badly after a banana -i noticed somewhere -(whether its true or not) that bananas help muscle build at that time!--but green tea remeid(sp) it.
Eric have you stopped the gym work because of your ailment?-im sure you have the knowledge to keep a good diet -the loss will be slower but i am sure you can do it--i think my dodgy legs will stop my exercise soon -so i will be looking into other avenues-i have got my calories under control and with all the gym work i am loosing just my target amount per week--i just want 1kg a week no more no less!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

lets just say I am on a restricted gym program, drastically reduced duration and intensity, i had a big fight with my doc and we came to an agreement, its more than he wants but still a big reduction in stress :p

but i think i have rejigged my calorie intake and my program to balance the issue, so i hope i can keep it up

so I have had a good week after all, i lost more than my weekly target :j:j:j and i have hit my next target :T:T:T

I have dropped my BMI into morbidly obese, yep many people would not be happy being morbidly obese (but with my bloods and BP i dont mind so much) but when you think i was super super morbidly obese on 4th Jan (BMI 60+) I am well happy to be in the BMI 40+ range :j:j:j

I love my diet system i get to eat steak and chips, chicken satay, roast lamb and chicken, and i get to eat a lot, my dinner plates are bigger than what most normal none dieters eat :D The increase metabolism and muscle mass is really paying dividends now. SWMBO is baffled at how I can eat so much (and I sat on my !!! watching films yesterday lol) and loose so much weight :)

Downside my next target is 38lbs away ..........

oh no its not, my next target will be 100lb lost :p silly to forget that :)

Eric nice to see you so positive again. Dropping your BMI by 20 since Jan is amazing. I have been trying to drop mine by 2.5 for a while but no luck - I need to copy your dedication I think.

im sick to death of being a sack of crap, not going to put up with it any more, i am back in control

its not so hard if you can apply a little will power, im nothing special my will power is no more than any one elses, i think the only difference is I have in my mind said 100% i have had enough where as most people (me included on the last 200 attempts) just say, i would like to, or i need to, or really i should loose weight, where as I am standing infront of a mirror shouting at myself I HAVE !!!!ING HAD ENOUGH OF THIS !!!!ING CRAP!!!! NO !!!!ING MORE!!! a good thing to do every morning and evening, look at yourself nakid in a mirror and shout at yourself, or is that just a sign of my insanity lol

its more like 14 than 20 :p as for my condition !!!! IT kill or cure, its a temp glitch and will not get in my way, it may slow me a bit but stop me !!!! NO!

my systems not that hard really, once you have dumped the addictive stuff, eat lots of healthy stuff including a lot of healthy fats and oils, cut back on the carbs (but dont excluded them) eat regularly over the day but most important build up your metabolism with exercise.
