You have two options either send the item back once you get the address and leave him a negative feedback As ebay already know about the case you should not get any none payment strike. You will be out of pocket though as realistically the chance of getting the return postage cost is zero.

The other option is not pay for the return and let him arrange the collection or pay you if he wants his item back. He sounds like a nutter with all his threats sometimes its best to cut your loses then get involved in something which might run on and on.

    hi,
A cheaper alternative postage with tracking is the new drop & collect service which is part of the The home delivery network (delivers catalogue parcels normally) costs just £4.49 up to 10kg.

    available at http://www.collectplus.co.uk/

you take the parcel to a local store of your choice in your area (you get quite a few choices) & the reciever of the parcel collects it from a local store of their choice in their area. You get a receipt with tracking & the collector has to sign for it their end judging by what the website says so you would have proof of postage & collection.

If he doesn't collect that's his problem as you have trackable proof of postage which paypal & ebay always need when dealing with disputes.

But to be honest I would expect the postage cost from the seller 1st or let him arrange the trackable collection.
All of this is his mistake not yours so why should you have to pay anything. That's my opinion anyway.
I sell on ebay occasionally only when it's my last option as I feel ebay is trying to kick out the small sellers in favour of the business sellers to compete with places like amazon etc.
It amazes me how the sellers that give ebay £'s in ebay & paypal fee's get away with so much like re-listing banned auctions that small sellers get suspended over.

Hope you get it all sorted out in the end, best of luck x x

AS this does not track to paypal address it is of course useless for paypal purposes. Also I would actively avoid any seller using this service and if they used it without warning me I would merely refuse to collect. I want my stuff delivered to me, all my local collect places are on walk ways in town centres and there is no way I am going into town and staggering home with a large packet.

This should not be recommended in conjunction with ebay, it is probabty best left to personal sales where your elderly relative is happy to stagger into town and lug home something cumbersome or heavy.

To be on the safe side I would also take photo's of the item before you return it so that it's condition is clear.

Yes I thought of this, but the seller is adamant that it is in great condtion, so is basically denying there's anything wrong with it. I'm a bit concerned that when I send it back to him he could quite possibly say that its not the one he sent me!

I havent contacted the Ebay Trust and safety team yet, as I'd prefer to send it back to him with his consent.

I have just phoned Ebay requesting the address of the seller to send the item back. They have refused to provide his address for security reasons!

They have instead said I should pay for the item and then enter a claim for item not as described, which they would then investigate. They said until the item is paid for they can do nothing.
    Not sure what to do.

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems...what a nightmare for you.

TBH ebay are not particularly helpful on the phone have you "pulled" the sellers contact details from the ebay system (no phone call to ebay is needed?)

I did notice post #6 but I couldn't find a response from OP as to whether or not they had done so...Maybe OP doesn't know how to pull details? OP seems to have contacted ebay by phone (not always very helpful) and ebay live chat (based in USA who in my experience are not always completely knowledgeable about UK transactions) the only other option OP hasn't tried is emailing ebay but as with other ebay lines of communication it's not a viable option as you just get a copy and paste response which has little to do with the actual situation! OP needs to let us know if contact details have been pulled?

    Definitely don't pay for it!

I would wait for the seller to send you the money to return it, and if they don't do that, then just store it until they send you the cost for returning it.

DO NOT PAY!!! (as you will end up out of pocket)

Did the seller send it recorded?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
