    I'm getting more emboldened here!

As I'm going to be £20 down from postage, maybe I should demand that before posting it back to him?

Surely it won't cost that much to send it back. Use parcel post with royal mail. Prob cost about £8?

Hi, i'm new to this part of the forum, but have some experience of eBay, i think that if you went ahead and paid for the X-Box through paypal, then opened a disspute with them as item not as described, i find that pay pal always go on the buyers side and will refund you if you can send the item back as received with proof of postage also if seller is unwilling to give address then pay pal would see this in your favor, then you would not get any marks on your record and you would be able to leave truthful feedback about this seller! I realize it seems hard to pay a large amount of money for something that you didn't expect but it was unusual for the seller to send without having been paid and this is how the system works normally, hope this helps!

I just got an email from him, he's claiming to be an "ebay administrator".

    Golly!!

    He's got a feedback of under 25.
  • "ebay a***hole" more like!

Personally I wouldn't pay for the item. If he doesn't give you his address then he is the one losing out.

I've just contacted ebay live chat they've told me to contact their Trust & Safety Team who would provide his address. They've said I dont need to make the payment, to keep proof of postage and that they would reimburse me for the postage.

    Can't be bad.

Not the best advice under the circumstances.

Under any circumstances if someone sends you a faulty item then the seller should pay for return postage (Paypal don't refund it as they never had it in the first place), if its a business seller then you have the right to ask for them to pay return postage before sending it back.

In the unusual circumstances of this case I would ask for return postage before sending back.
Just having seen your latest post, I'd get confirmation that Ebay are going to pay for return postage, this seems even more unusual.

The ebay person I chatted to seemed like english was not his first language.
He said tell the Trust and saftey team about the postage and "you will be all set".
I'm assuming that meant refunded, or perhaps not?

Just make sure you send it tracked and signed for in case he states he did receive it back.

Perhaps send it in a larger box, a TV box so he is caught unawares.....lol thinking he has a TV delivered by mistake.

I've never heard of them specifically refunding return postage, especially as in your case they have no evidence of any payment being made in the first place, if they did anyone could collude with a seller and get them to pay up.
