Delia's Spanish Chicken, a rice, chicken, sausage, orange, olives and tomato casserole.

There are loads of spicey (fragrant) but not hot curries around; they do not need to be incendiary devices.

Proper Chilli with paprika not chilli powder and some hot sauce on the side for you?

Old-fashioned rice pudding?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Minced beef, fried onions and leftover rice, dollop of BBQ sauce, sprinkle of grated cheese all in a tortilla wrap. A definite UNspicy buritto (I think!?) Which is what I do ... Mr B likes the spice, but I'm afraid I dont like any kind of spice or heat. Even the BBQ sauce is a mild honey one!!
I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum? :D
• paella ? chicken or seafood depending on tastes doesnt have to be spicey.

Also one of my faves is left over chicken added to a tin of camb3lls mushroom soup with added mushrooms very creamy and a comfort food really

I was going to say my Chinese Chicken but Hester beat me to it!

Green risotto - put 1pt water in a saucepan with a chicken stock cube. When it comes to the boil, add a head of broccoli, cut into florets and cook for 3 mins.

Meanwhile, fry off a chopped onion, add risotto rice and stir to coat in oil. With a slotted spoon, add your broccoli. If you have a glass of wine that you're not actively drinking, chuck it in. Gradually add the hot stock and stir. Let it absorb a bit at a time. This bit is incredibly boring, so I tend to stir, do something else, then come back and stir again - DH's Italian aunties would have a fit!

When the rice is tender and all the liquid absorbed, stir in some grated cheese - parmesan if you have it, cheddar if you don't.

We use a LOT of cheese :D

This is really yummy - and really quite healthy. Well, if you go more easy on the cheese than I do...

with spring coming my OH and I will definately be eating more rice! so many lovely salads based on rice!
my favourites are
cooked cooled rice with these ingredients cooked and added when cooled
runner or french beans, sweetcorn and peas
Rice with a tin of mandarin oranges drained and mixed in.
Rice with some cold scrambled egg, peas and either snipped chives or finely chopped spring onions.
Rice with drained or fresh pineapple, ham chunks and any green veg you fancy. brocolli is nice and so is fresh garden peas.
a rather strange one the kids used to like is 'Pink Rice' which is simply cooked cooled beetroot cut into small dice and tossed in the rice - which turns bright pink!

For those who don't like spicy, by the way, you could always try...

My mother's curry :D

No Indians were hurt (or indeed involved) in the making of this recipe :rotfl::rotfl:

This is a great recipe for your rubber chicken (or indeed, any left-over meat).

Fry off an onion and then add chopped, cooked chicken (or lamb, beef, pork - whatever you've had for Sunday lunch)

Sprinkle a teaspoonful of curry powder and stir in. Now add:

1 tblsp marmalade
1 tblsp tomato ketchup
1 tblsp chutney
1 diced apple
1 sliced banana
Handful of sultanas or raisins

Stir round well and pour over about half a pint of cold water. Stir again, bring to the boil and simmer until most of the water is absorbed so that you have a thickish sauce. Serve on rice.

This is not A BIT spicy. A very English curry :D:D

That brought back memories. Very similar to my mum's curry except that she'd serve the sliced banana, sultanas/raisins, also desiccated coconut and, I think, cucumber in little bowls and we'd put little heaps of the ones we fancied round the edge of the plate. (I used to really love it though, much more than I like 'real' curry)

Hi, I just went a few days without any money and all I had in the house by the end was a bag of rice haha, anyway I ended up making this and it was really nice. Handy if you dont have anything left in the house, and you have a big spicerack like me.

Fry cardamom pods, coriander seeds, chilli, little bit of cinnamon in 2tbsps butter or oil
Add 1 cup rice and stir fry for 2 mins
Add 1 1/2 cups water, 1tsp turmeric, 1tsp garam masala, some raisins if you have them
Put on a tight lid, simmer for 15mins or until water has gone and rice is cooked

:)
