It is pointless keeping her off at all they are most contagious in the 24 hours before the spots come out though she will have been contagious most of last week. They are no longer contagious once all the spots have scabbed over.
If there is a child there who is immuno suppressed they will require an injection of gamma globulin to protect them so you should let the nursery know she has the pox but if she is feeling ok send her in.
Sorry, Pigpen, I completely disagree with you here.
Watch out for pregnant women who don't appreciate catching chicken pox and nearly dying. There tend to be more around nurseries. I was one of them.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
hello all
(((hugs))) sandy - but good news on the rental

Hi all
Hope everyone is ok, special hugs and thoughts to sandy. you must tell DH - like it or not it's his job to support you!
Well, time for me to (as Soappie would say) 'fess up to why I've not been around so much/managing much flying recently.......
I'm 12 and a bit weeks pregnant, some of you know already (and more probably suspect!) but I didn't want to announce it on here until a) family all knew and b) we knew things were going ok. We had the 12 week scan today (a big fancy one at king's college hospital, just standard cos of where I live), which was amazing - we got to see the baby for almost an hour as had to go back in 3 times as it was either lying the wrong way or jumping around too much for the final measurement!
I'm so excited and happy now (plus a bit scared!) - still v tired and nauseous and a bit scared about telling work (finally got my letter extending my job last week!). So please add me to the 'carrying a flybaby' list!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Neuro has rung back already. He said there is something "tumour like" there. He will refer me to York.
I can't believe he told me over the phone then passed me on.
So sorry to hear that. Toots gave excellent advice, as always, and so did many others. Hope DH will take good care of you tonight. This does get easier (mind you, i have just worked out it has taken about 4 months to get easier!!!!),
Oh dear, I am still waiting for that moment (almost 6 months), but I can see how it might work one day.It is pointless keeping her off at all they are most contagious in the 24 hours before the spots come out though she will have been contagious most of last week. They are no longer contagious once all the spots have scabbed over.
if she is feeling ok send her in.
Most nurseries have a policy for these situations and will specify exactly when it's ok to go back. Just check with them.
I was so tired when I came in that I've just sat on the sofa with DS2 and caught up with the thread. Oh, and I've fed DS2. Beginning to come round now, so I'll do tea for the rest of us and see to DS2. Flying later, maybe.
