  • Well, I certainly do. As an apprentice house husband since leaving work, I was given a lovely AGA blue striped apron for Christmas (I did actually request one!), and it is in daily use in the kitchen.

Now how about protection when decorating - paint seems to get in just a many places and is more difficult to remove. I currently get round it by wearing old clothes and living with the spots. Jackson Pollock - eat your heart out!

    Regards,

    White.
  • I always wear an apron when I am baking or cooking.

I should wear an apron but always forget! Got into bad habit of wiping my hands on my jeans ;)
Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Well I always wear my pinny when cooking! I am starting up a cake / cupcake business from home so it's essential for me, although I do wear it when baking for myself too!
  • My friend is a great " pinny wearer" One holiday, in a self catering apartment just off the beach, she made a sandwich for hubby and took it to the sunbed. Walking down the beach, topless in a pinny raised a few eyebrows. lol
  • Well, I wear an apron whether it's cool or not. A waist apron protects my skirts whilst cleaning and provides a pocket for my handkerchief. I make my aprons from remnants of curtain material so they're pretty sturdy and I pick up the pieces for pennies.

When I am doing messy cooking I use a full length (pinafore) PVC to keep me clean.

    Bella.

I love this - a hanky pocket sounds so civilised. However, I am not laughing. My best apron is a cotton one made by my Mum to Grandma's pattern, including useful pocket.

I'm afraid we have no PVC ones though. I need to be able to wipe my hands on my apron and then chuck it in the washer when I'm done. Must be a mucky pup

NannaC is PROUD to be a PINNY WEARER. Have various pinny's for different jobs. A dark blue Jeeves type for cleaning, black heavy duty one with big front pocket for doing odd DIY jobs, bright orange [present from MIL] oil cloth one for gardening, blue cotton one for sewing [two front pockets for sissors etc] and 3 nice cotton ones for cooking. When they are getting near their best before date i.e. a lot worn I make some more from fabric leftovers.

I too often forget my apron when cooking, but try to always remember to wear it when washing up, as I'm terrible for splashing water everywhere!

Mine is an old PVC one, I think my mum gave me it, my mum has had several of them over the years (no idea where they originated from) she does have a few vintage material ones of my grandmothers, but they are rarely worn (I think they're so pretty I'd worry about getting them all stained)!.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
