Yes I agree with this. I've ruined a few nice tops when I've '"ust cleaned the kitchen top while I'm here" and leant on a sprayed bit of cleaner. Doh. I never learn though... I think I'll go an get a pinny out and put it on the work surface as a reminder.. right now

I have a cotton apron from woolies which I wear whenever I cook. Bought it myself once I realised I was messing up too many clothes with cooking spills!
For household cleaning, I tend to do this on a saturday or sunday morning in my pyjamas and then chuck them in the wash!
Just for your survey, I am in my twenties!fran-o0 -
I have got a plastic apron from Dunelm Mill, I wear it when I am baking because I tend to get flour EVERYWHERE!!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Yes, the disposable apron are very useful, I have started using them at work now I pop one on over my normal pvc apron when I am colouring or perming
Huh? Isn't that defeating the point. Or going OTT? Apron to protect clothes. Apron to protect apron? Why not just abandon your PVC one in the first place?0 -
Thanks to this thread I'm sitting in an apron right now.. lol
Doing bits, and then having a break, doing bits, then having a break.. I can see myself wearing this all day at this rateApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Morning all!:j
I teach cookery in a junior school and in September my year 4 children will be studying WWII and cooking from the wartime cookery books.
I would love to enter into the spirit of this exercise and wear one of those crossover, floral aprony-things that you always see in the old photographs. (I draw the line at the curlers and headscarf though:rotfl:)
Anyone got any ideas where I can get one from or better still, a pattern to make one?
EDITED TO ADD: I have loads of aprons at home - butchers stripe, Cath Kidston, MasterChef (I was a semi-finalist some years ago now!) - not PVC though, yuk!:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Yeh, I understand what you are saying but the pvc apron which I normally wear is part of my work uniform, we have choice whether to wear the pvc apron or a nylon tabbard, I prefer the apron. Putting a disposalable apron on top just saves me the trouble of wiping down my apron after I have been carrying out a perm or colour.0 -

I too have been searching for either one of these aprons, or a pattern to make one, but with no success. I wonder if one of the older members may be able to come up with a pattern?
I wear a lovely massive apron I bought in a service station in Bourg-en-bresse in France. Its huge and properly wraps around me to protect my clothes. I'm a messy cook and boy do i need it,:o I have a huge colllection of aprons, including my old school apron from 1973 but unfortunately since i put on weight they seem to cover very little of me:eek:August 2009 grocery challenge £172.64/,,,,,

Disposable aprons aren't exactly enironmentally friendly though, and, in the long run, will cost more.
I'll stick with my vintage (washable) pinnies.
I have checked the disposable aprons used in our salon and they are biodegradable. I try not to use too many in day normally i go through about 3 or 4 a day depending on how many chemical treatments or ear piercings I am doing.0
