There's no excuse for such a low level of service even in cheaper places - OK you wouldn't expect silver service but not getting basic things right is unacceptable and I'm sure the management would agree.

Just because it was a cheap meal doesn't make the OP's complaint any less valid.
No it doesn't but £100 for that amount of people is still really cheap.

The main complaint from the OP was the 2for1 and the child having it. How is that bad service when it isnt actually a deal for a child?

according to the op's description of events, the bad service is:

    • they had reserved a table in advance - when they got there, no table had been reserved
    • food and drinks were ordered - when they arrived, some items were incorrect or missing
    • some starters arrived after the main course
    • the staff were rude and unhelpful

if this version of events is correct, then that is most certainly bad service.

Everyone writes that on here when they have a problem. Goes in one ear and out the other when I see it now!

that maybe so, but it doesn't necessarily mean it didn't happen.

when i said i'd read 4 reviews that mentioned the poor service, i was wrong. there are actually 5, i missed out this one:

    Lairy Staff

"I complained about the service and found the person I complained to very rude."

I really can't understand why on earth anyone would think a child shouldn't be allowed to eat a meal from the 2 for 1 section of the adult menu. If I have a particularly greedy child and order them a full-priced standard meal from the adult section would that be a problem? Looking at it from the pub's point of view, how does it make sense that it's OK for an adult (who would otherwise eat a full-priced meal) to have the free meal, but not a child (who would otherwise have a cheap meal from the children's menu). Surely the free meal going to a child is better, as they're probably losing less profit on the sale they would otherwise have made?

    That completely proves my point!

I would say why don't you try it yourself? People seem to be trying to bump this in Googles rankings with no actual knowledge of the place themselves. Bit childish really!

Also you think you know what you're doing but you don't. You might want to read about keyword spamming and it's negative effects on SEO!

there are 10 reviews across various websites, 6 are negative and 5 complain of poor or rude service.

i'm not suggesting that you should believe every review you read or that people who feel "aggrieved" in some way, don't exaggerate, but it's clear to me, that this is an on-going issue with this pub.

i have no reason to disbelieve the op given the other reviews.

let's put it this way, i might go there for a drink or a quick snack, but there's no way i'd go for a proper meal. that's just my personal opinion.

The place probably gets about 100 customers a day at least, which is 36500 a year. Over the timescal of those complaints that is over 100,000 customers. Only 6 complaints from 100,000 customers is pretty good (i note that several of the 6 complaints are duplicated too!)
