Well I got a great result!

I contacted sky last week to try and get a HD offer they wouldn't help so I went through to retentions who were happy to put through the cancellation. I tried calling a couple of times during this past week to see they could offer that deals to me, but they weren't having any of it.

I decided to call sales yesterday to see if the HD department could offer me a deal and they were happy to let me have the HD Box and installation free but I would have to pay the £10 sub and commit to a 12 month contact. I told her that I would consider it.

I rang back 30 minutes later and spoke to a different advisor and told them that I had ben offered the HD Box, installation AND HD Sub free (bluff), they asked me if I had a leaflet through and so I said yes (bluff), he asked me for the code and I told him it was misplaced.

They guy then put me on hold and spoke with the reconnections department and managed to get me 25% off my package for 6 months (without me even asking) and applied the 12 months HD Offer.

So I'm actually better off then you guys

:j:j congratulations but my offer is better as i got the box, install,hd sub for free and 1/2 price package for 12 months lol so i pay £24.25 for the whole lot for 12 months.;)

thanks op being fitted tomorrow morning, cant wait :j:j

If anyone rings Sky from this point on and STILL gets the offer then please can you post it here ?

Could you also confirm the phone number you dialled and what you told them ?

    Thankyou

  • I called twice today to try and get the offer with no joy- they said it can only be done on the outbound call. I argued for ages saying that I'm never in to receive calls but they wouldn't budge saying they could only do it if they had a record of the original call on my account.

I called back to cancel and got to a point where they offered me a measly 20% off the tv package for three months so I said I'd still like to cancel (nothing more was offered besides an HD box for a one-off £59 and no monthly payment but no Sky HD channels - only freeview ones). (I've been a customer for three years)

What was interesting to find out was that as part of my Sky Talk contract Sky own the phone line so if I want to reconnect with someone else I have to get a new line installed! I said I'd investigate this further before giving my 31 days notice because BT charge a lot to put a line in!

Hi hope i'm doing this right as this is my first post!

I just phoned sky to see if i could get this offer and the girl on the phone seemed really miffed (i think too many people who have read this have tried it on )
she said that only outgoing calls from sky could do this and it was for loyalty customers, i asked what counts as a loyal customer as i have been a customer for 5 years and she said she didn't know ...

has anyone had any luck with emailing them to ask about this offer? I might try phoning again but i'm worried i'll get the same woman!

Should i blag that i got an outgoing phonecall from sky? if yes shall i say i spoke to someone or it was left on my answerphone?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts :T

you keep the old box, but to watch what you have taped, you will have to unscrew/unplug the leads from the new box when they install it, and plug them back into your old box, or get sat infront of the box for thext 48 hours:rotfl::D
Take every day as it comes!!

Well Sky have sent today a new viewing card in anticipation of the upcoming HD installation so I expect I'm going to be ok.
People on here claiming that this deal was only for loyal customers, well I've been a Sky subscriber continuously since 1991 ie; before Premier League footy and Leeds United were winning the old Division One :D. I was never phoned and offered this or indeed any other deal actually. Nobody rewards loyalty these days, it's 'brand new customers only' as the joke bank ad says.

    Welcome To MSE Lulupop....

Not sure about the loyalty, I have been with Sky for 4 years, not much compared to others who have tried and failed!

If you look a few posts above at whittysmum's post, she emailed and had no luck!

Chances are you wont get the same person, lots of peeps in those call centre's.

You could do either really, I belive its pot luck at the end of the day - I used ' My partner took the call but I am account holder' and I got the deal..... think others have said basically the same but no joy!

    Good luck with it!!
