I have skyplus box and plus basic package with sky sports 1, I would like to get Sky Movies to watch the Pacific at Easter plus I would like to get a Sky HD box and all the HD channels for the World Cup in June.

What do you think is my best approach to get all of the above.

Looks like a no go for me, have tried both numbers now. Only option is a £30 install and £10 a month subscription! Damn! Really need a new box too as ours is on the blink!

    Do I try again?????

Keep trying, it may depend on who you speak to....I spoke to someone called Nikki (very nice, couldn't have been more helpful)

threatening to cancel could be an option. worth a try. tell them new customers get better benefits etc.
  • I have tried this too with no success,

Our sky+ box has been on the blink for ages and I've had to call tech support a few times, the last time I spoke with them they said "if this doesn't fix it, just call us back and we'll get a free hd box and installation, sorted for you".

I saw on here that LOADS of people were getting the package with free 12months subs so called but they wouldn't give me the 12 months free ( I don't have an HD tv, so HD subs no use to me) but they wouldn't budge. Instead I have a free engineer visit booked, he will "resolve the issue", replacing our box if neccessary..... does anyone know if you can still get sky+ boxes? I'm hoping all he has is an HD box, as thats what happened to my daughter when she moved house?!

I find it infuriating that sky treat their customers so differently, it seems the longer you've been with them the least chance you have of getting any promotion :(

Scared that if I threaten to cancel, they may say go on then and will be worse off than I am now!:o

I totally agree with you on this. We are customers of theirs so why do they "pretend" that these offers do not exist when they and me know they do. ?!

It seems that this free HD package isn't just for new customers as exisiting customers on this thread have had success in getting it so what on earth is their criteria..pot luck ?

Would the Office of Fair Trading be interested in this ?

As regards cancellations, don't be spooked if they call your bluff and put you through to the cancellations department (yes, they have a separate department for people wanting to leave Sky).

The cancellations department normally have more flexibility in offering you incentives to stay. It doesn't always work and you could always say right at the death that you still intend to cancel but need to speak to your spouse to talk it over.

I'm annoyed with the way they handle all of this. Would Debenhams get away with it if a rumour broke out that they had a 50% sale on but it wasn't advertised anywhere and you had to ask the sales assistant if you could have the discount ? Even then they could say "no" despite the fact that you saw them serve a customer before you with the applied discount ???

Just tried for the third time and was told again that they have no such offers. The sales person even started getting a bit ratty with me.

He eventually offered me a free Sky+ HD box (which is free anyway), half price installation and a tenner a month for the subscription. I said "no thanks".

I'm giving up on this, it's too demeaning.
