does the sky + box retain its pause/ rewind function when no longer connected to sky ?

ie if i get new HD can I just move old sky+ box to bedroom and use as a freeview or will i need another card ?

A Sky box won't work as freeview, it just doesn't. If you mean could it work as a "freesat from sky" receiver, yes it can but no it won't have Sky+ functions and you will still need to connect it to a dish somehow.

I had a thought about this yesterday and after phoning Sky and being fobbed off about the deal twice, I put the ball in their court and made a complaint via the web site.

I explained that I had been offered a deal by phone but the caller's headset had malfunctioned halfway through -which it did actually- and they had offered me a deal, but I wasn't sure what it was and was curious.

Received a return call within 2 hours, and explained the situation. They then passed me to a call centre, who asked what deal I had been offered. Errrr......12 months free subscription, installation and box?

'No problem sir, if that's what was offered, that's what we'll give you'.

Getting the full hit installed on 2nd April!

Hi All,

This may be a silly question, but I'm going to ask it anyway! After the 12 months, how do you revert back to Sky plus? Do you just down grade the subscription again and plug your old sky plus box in?

Yes but hopefully in 12 months time the Sky HD subscription will be free because the new toy they will want everyone to get will be Sky 3D.

My Dad had sky hd box and when he cancelled his hd subscription he just carried on using the box as a normal sky + box, just didnt get any hd channels.

omg!!!!!!!! 4th attempt and i got it!

im on the phone now on hold. but the thing is i gave in to the temptation when i rang in earlier that i would pay £60 for the hd box that they offered, they are going to come and fit tomorrow. what do i do now? tell him to refund that money back and get a new date for this offer?

does that all make sense? lol

Just tried ringing Sky now and they're not offering me anything !

60 quid for installation and subscription charges thereafter. I asked about the "special promotion" and was told that only applies to "outbound calls".
