I suppose the thing about an "emergency pot" is that there is no finite size - I could say that I need to have enough there for repairs to the car if it needed.....my friend has just forked out £750 because a rodent chewed through a fuel pipe on her car...... Or I could say that I need enough so that if the boiler blows up, it can be repaired/replaced.....which could be into 4 figures......and of course if I lost my job, then my emergency fund would need to be, say, 6 months worth of mortgage and bills, in case it took me a while to find another job.....

So, a bit like saying how long is a piece of string! I really don't know HOW much I need :o

As much as you can will always be less than you need. As with most things, it's a balancing act. You do need to have enough that common stuff (like car repairs) can be covered - but more than that is a bonus.

The problem is that you are putting aside money for the unpredictable. Which then can't be predicted...

Absolutely. But the main thing is that the savings pot has started - and has more in it than it had this time last year. So small emergencies can now be managed.

So......welcome to the weekend. I hope it is a good one for all of you. Mine is quite busy with various sporting activities and a need to do some housework, get some bets done, mystery shop blah blah blah. Plus, of course, an hour's less sleep **roll eyes smiley to make an appearance here**.

Decluttering has slowed somewhat this month, and I really do want to get back on top of that - there is still so much to do. Perhaps I will go and assess the situation this weekend, even if I don't actually get rid of anything.....hmmmm.....

I also want to have a bit of a tidy up outside - sweep the patios and paths, rake what should be called a lawn, but would be an optimistic choice of words at this time, etc etc. Then I can put some weedkiller down before things start to go mad. Unfortunately, we have rain forecast today, so perhaps a job for next weekend instead. Again, though, I can assess what needs to be done, at the very least.

Coffee is on the go, and scratches and banking just begging to be done.....

Thanks, benben, and you! I am in "impatient planning mode"......not necessarily a good thing when combined with "lack of sleep and energy mode" :rotfl:

I'll see how the weekend pans out and how much actually gets done, and be grateful for anything at all, I reckon!!

Morning - DH & DD have gone Parascending somewhere in Lincolnshire, DS is playing soldiers somewhere so I have the day to myself. Hit the veritable brick wall earlier this week - knew it would happen about 6 weeks after Mum died and can;t get focused to do anything, of course I have a list longer than my arm to do !!

Am doing me stuff today not stuff to do with mums estate, so at least I haven;t got two hours of driving to add into the pot either.

Am faling asleep just typing so am going back to bed !

    Have a good day everyone

    Good morning Hypno et al.

10ps again on the scratchies, but won £5 on a V free bingo game yesterday, which does compensate a bit.

Maybe if you try going bed a little earlier tonight, and wake up early as you normally do, the change in the clocks might actually help your sleep pattern get in sync. Hope that makes sense!!!

Think I've slightly lost the plot on the diet, so got to restart, it's amazing how gradually portions get bigger and treats sneak in. Anyway, today is a new day, so can make a new start :)

Been doing stomach exercises each day, but got to fit in something to burn calories and some other exercise too. That will help the diet, and the endorphins will make me feel better too :)

Hope everyone has a good day :)
