se, sometimes I think that agents don't take you seriously if you are doing things from a distance -they think you are just "playing" at househunting which drives me mad.
Some years ago, when we sold the house from hell, we briefly (although seriously) thought about relocating to Devon, where we have friends. We found a couple of properties, but wanted to know about schools etc in the vicinity for the children. When we rang some of the agents, though, I very definitely got the impression that we were "just another couple of timewasters" which was quite frustrating, because we were in a very good position, ie having already sold, etc.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Interesting to see your "within walking distance" goal, Hypno - I feel exactly the same, tho for different reasons - I can isolate myself at home, and the time taken to get to the bus stop, wait, and take a 25 minute journey is very offputting to me..... whereas a 20 minute walk is fine.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Ooh, can I join in the househunting and dot to dot chat?!
I also start lots of jobs at once and always think of it as runners on a track - I need to start everyone off at the same time, then keep them all moving along. I feel better if I've at least made a start, then jobs are not so daunting (I do this at work too). The disadvantage is that jobs can often end up half done (only at home - at work I am genius! :rotfl:)
As for houses. We are in the fortunate position of living within the catchment for the best school in the area. The downside is houses are a good 20-25% more expensive, than even 1/4 mile away where money stretches much further.
Our plan is to buy something we can add value to and stay in until little DD is in Junior school, then aim for the Dream House after that - in about 5 years time.
Looking at houses has been my hobby since I was a young girl, in an ideal world I'd be Sarah Beeny - without the boobs.0 -

Hurray! Another one

I love the running thing! But thats it about the half done thing - dangerous for me, when I'm selling my house and buyers really do want a viewing at a couple of hours notice

I'm in the catchment of an excellent primary school, and its a quiet very family friendly area, so its sought-after for that reason. My little semi I'm going after in HH is good for me - walking distance to the railway, the sports centre (just), the supermarket, and the town centre, with a playing field opposite and the country a walk away too, from the look of it.

The Blessed Sarah! In my mind, she's almost the equivalent of The Blessed Martin :rotfl:the highlights can be a bit dodgy too, but she's great.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Haha! Yes the highlights are a shocker! I've read that her friend is a hairdresser! :eek:0

Thanks Hypno.
Holiday was magical-it is sad about friend, tragic really but sadly, too many people have the same tales to tell. I feel sad for her family most of all.
Enjoy your weekend. xEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
The reason we bought the house we are in now was so we could be in catchment for the high school here, but as DD leaves in a few weeks, and DS leaves in a couple of years, it won't be where we need to stay. We don't have a sixth form here, so wherever they go after GCSE's will involve at least one bus journey, so it really won't matter where we are living (within reason) at that point, as long as we can all get where we want to be, and they can easily get about to meet up with friends etc.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I used to love living in the country side, nearest village was 4miles away, small town about the same, and bigger city 17miles away. But I love living in a small city as well. I think Cardiff's great!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0
