I posted this recipe on old style today as someone wanted to know what to do with stuffing mix, but thought it might be worth putting it here too, it's mega cheap and quick.
"I saute onions, peppers and some bacon bits, then add the stuffing mix and an egg, then water. If you've got water from cooking vege's it's good to use it.
Put it in a greased tin, and bake. It makes a savoury loaf as a main course. You can also use it to make stuffed peppers, again as a main. Very quick and easy."
Oh, for this it does seem to need more liquid than the packet says.
For the bacon I use part of the Tesco cooking bacon pack, the stuffing mix is the tesco value stuffing mix which is I think under 20p.
I quite like the loaf cold too, so could be used for picnics or packed lunches.0 -
I will def try that bacon/stuffing loaf - sounds ideal for taking to ski races as well as for a meal at home!
I don't have an Aldi or Lidl anywhere near us, but if I am passing one at any time, I will have a look. And of course I will let you all know when the brussels make an appearance!
I've managed a NSD today - a good start to the challenge, and have no children here this evening so can start my storecupboard challenge quite nicely.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Well an initial look in the cupboards is very encouraging - we have rice (brown, and white), pasta, couscous and various jars of pasta sauce/sweet and sour type stuff, so that is a good start. I've also got plenty of potatoes and onions, and a few bits in the freezer that I can make meals with.
Hopefully, I can get away with just buying bread, milk, coffee and catfood this week, plus obviously fresh fruit and veg for the month ahead, although I will look into frozen stuff as it may be cheaper, and can obviously avoid waste as I don't use more than I need each time.
Dinner tonight is a pork chop and roasted veggies. Yum Yum Yum.....plus sufficient WW points left over to eat a creme egg I bought yesterdaySuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. [QUOTE=hypno06;32098889I have had some very positive comments from colleagues who have noticed the difference.
So.....blubber be gone[/QUOTE]
Haruummmpphhh . I've lost 3/4 stone & the only comment I've had was someone asking if my boobs had got bigger (always happens, when I lose blubber below them).
I think that the main issue is going to be the supermarket shopping, so I will be doing a strict audit of the cupboards and freezer over the weekend, and meal planning accordingly for the month.
I can do this.
Yay, the brussel sprout curry rears its' head again :rotfl:
Well done Hypno, glad you are finding a way to make your life more enjoyable. Enjoy your haircutA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Gallygirl, I am feeling quietly positive about things after a few stressful months. I am looking forward to our (cheap) holiday away in the summer, and starting to feel that the house is mine.....baby steps, but definitely steps in the right direction.
And getting healthier, and ditching all those old clothes etc has been pretty good too - still a long way to go, but my mindset has changed a little recently, and I know I can get the balance right on a much reduced income, and that is a very good feeling!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Good on you lady on doing this challenge! I did Grocery Challenge and only spent £40 last month on food, just on me mind! Really helped as I was determined to stick to my budget and only went 7p over. Go for it and an odd tight month is okay!'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Other supermarkety things that I have heard about recently....
Asda are apparently doing cheap veg - 29p or thereabouts. Not sure what's included in this.
Morrisons usually have some good deals - last week I stocked up on pears (4 huge ones for 30p) and tatties (1kg bag of Red Roosters for 30p) Didn't see much this week, but it is a supermarket I find has good offers on fresh things a lot. Tesco is mince as far as I'm concerned, I always find it more expensive0 -
If anyone can do it then you can Hypno, look how far you've come through your diaries whenever you need a bit of inspiration, I know you're mine and a lot of others would agree too.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

We don't have an Asda near us, FF, but I have taken advantage of the 30p veg at Morrisons as it is not far, and I agree that they do have some very good prices there.
