It might be child holiday centred, but this is also the first new unit holiday, so it needs to be centred about the new family as a whole too, and that includes you as a priority too :grouphug:

Well said I definitely agree with that sentiment.

oh hai again! I think i suggested innkeepers as the unlimited breakfast can be a plus with 2 teenagers and they are often part of a pub. the travelodge in liverpool city centre is fab as there's a classic cheap place called "me mam's caff" just down the road; not a facility i've found in warwick or stratford as yet. the warwick innkeeper's seems to be close to a university of warwick site so there are buses but they may be at odd times...

Holiday Inn Express also do free breakfasts so I will hunt for those too......

Have relocated temporarily to the ski club. DD and DS did a first aid course today, so no chance to ski, and DS can't possibly wait until training tomorrow morning, so we have had to come down for a couple of hours this evening.........

my goodness hypno! page six already. I can't even hope to read it all, but your opening post is brilliant.

The holiday sounds like my idea of hell (I hate theme parks!) but each to her own! You deserve a good break and it will be fun to be the three of you - well done for getting it organised in such an MSE way.

Personally, I'd rather be on a beach somewhere hot, sunny, and armed with my ipod, a selection of books, and a cold G&T from time to time......but the children would love to do the theme parks, and it is obviously going to be cost effective, so that is what we will do. I'm not a great fan of queues, and masses of people getting in my way.....but I will get my beach holiday as a reward one day when I can afford white sands and clear skies.

Thanks kipper - yes, I will be keeping the faith :)

I went onto the travelodge website last night, and if I get my timing right, I can get some very cheap rooms. So tomorrow I will sort out my annual leave with the office, and then I will start booking some of these up - £19 or £22 for a room close to a theme park in the summer holidays is not something I can afford to pass on........and then makes it a very reasonable week away.

Scratches and banking next, matched bets to do as the day goes on, skiing, and football for the kids after paper rounds of course.....and another look at those pesky budgets to see if there is anything I can trim.

Have a good one, everyone x

Hope you manage to get the rooms cheaply Hypno.

On the holiday cost, the MacDonald's near the Staines Travelodge has a Sainsbury's with petrol at the same roundabout. The Stratford Tesco's also has a filling station. At Bicester discount Village, there's a Tesco's with petrol on the way into the park. maybe other's will know where other cheaper petrol is too, once we know where you're going. We normally try to fill up at supermarkets when travelling if we can.

Morning Hypno..sounds like a productive day again today. Travelodge deals are great and the rooms fine for what you need. Have to agree lying on a beach in the sunshine with Book and G&T would be my ideal too....ok maybe Pimms instead but thats getting technical lol!

Glad to see you are keeping on top of the budgets, needs must and all that!
    Have a good day xx

Try signing up with De Vere hotels also Hypno - a lot are conference centres and you can get rooms for £10-20 during the holidays when they are quiet. You'd need to go out for brekkie but they often have nice pools & leisure complexes.

I'd offer you some rooms but don't have any theme parks near me. Good bra outlet though :rotfl:
