I am lucky in that respect, sally.....with my two being that bit older, holiday cover is something that I don't need to be concerned with now.
In the past it has been a nightmare, though, as OH and I both worked full time, so I empathise with you. We were very lucky in that our local football club ran multi-sports camps - 8am-6pm every day. They were a lifesaver to us, as they were also very reasonably priced. The children were exhausted, but being sporty they got a lot out of them too.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. School holidays are a shock to the system when you work - I sympathise too.
We have a mixture of OH a week, me a week, Mum a few days and the rest Out of School Club @ £17.50 a day. MSE it is not.....
Could you get together with a couple of Mums Sally and maybe do a week about?0 -
Good evening Hypno, glad to hear holiday plans are taking shape, it will give you something to look forward to. If Alton Towers is on your itinerary, then you may find it more fun than you thought. I went on a works trip there some years back, and some of our party didn't go on any of the rides as it wasn't their sort of thing. Instead, they spent the day picknicking and wandering around the lovely gardens - thoroughly enjoyed themselves! So that sun, book, Ipod and G&T moment may not be too far away.....One life - your life - live it!0

Alton Towers is the only one that I have been to, and I did enjoy it. I think my only problem will be trying to cram in such a thing every day for a whole week. We will all be shattered by the end of it, which is why I am glad I will have a second week off, which I can spend at home afterwards!
But, I am looking forward to it, and I know we will have a really good time. I will sort out the dates when I am at work tomorrow
Compared with how I felt this time last week, today I am in "a good place". So thank you all for your help over the last few days, for your ideas and for your support - it really does mean a lot :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Compared with how you were, and where you were a couple of months ago, (when your OH announced he was leaving) you are in a fantastic place - still lots of peaks and troughs ahead for you, but you are doing ok, just remember that. One life - your life - live it!0

And at the moment, that's exactly as things should be. In time, you'll move on to "for the moment, things are alright" but one step at a time. You're doing really well Hypno - trust us on this! :T🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

For many years I only worked school weeks - heavenly.. now work in an office full time and dread the holidays = just don't have enough time to take off with youngest dd. Sadly school job just didn't pay anywhere near the equivalent hourly rate that I now earn but it is very hard.0 -
Being a working mum (or when both parents work) really is hard, but one thing I can say, is that my two haven't been unduly disadvantaged by the fact that they were looked after by nannies/childminders/holiday clubs/themselves in the holidays.
I think it is tough on the parents - financially, and on the old "guilt" front, but the children generally do alright out of it. And they appreciate their time with their Mum (or mum and dad) all the more when they get that occasional week together!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
