    Have just bunged 500gm pack of caustic soda down...have found this problem again on return from 3 weeks' absence, but it had been happening, allowing me to discover this Thread, a couple of months back.
    Have done the hot water, wire coat hanger things and wrong sort of plunger.
    Hosepipe and toilet auger are next....
    Exciting times.

    This happened in my house a few weeks ago. Went out and bought caustic soda and Mr Muscle. I'm a bit scared of using the caustic soda (read the destructions carefully), so firstly I put some Mr M down and left it for half an hr - it kind of froths up - then flushed and it worked! So didn't use the caustic soda.
