Everything seems fine manhole wize so i'm totally stumped.
I guess i'm going to need to ring a plumber tomorrow bcos obviously it's getting inconvenient now and doesn't seem to be improving!
It's upstairs WC, only toilet in the house. All other areas like sinks etc are fine!0 -
If your bath and bathroom sink are draining well then the problem is in the U bend or the short section that connects the toilet to the soil pipe.
I doubt it's toilet paper because this normally dissolves and I doubt it's solid wastes as this usually goes down very well. Has any member of the family put anything down they shouldn't have done? Newspaper is often a culprit as is paper towels. Many people put tissues down the toilet without thinking but even these can cause blockages.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
I have children sponsored by Andrex, and this has happened to us a few times. The first rule now is to flush after one lot of loo paper and if you need more then flush again.
Last time, I got a wire hanger and bent it into a curve type shape and shoved this round a few times and it did the trick.
Not a pleasant job. Good luck!!!0 -
so the blockage is between the wc pan and the manhole?
so the soil pipe is the prime suspect. is there a rodding access hole anywhere?
plastic or cast iron pipe?Get some gorm.0 -
You just need a plunger to suck the blockage out. If you can't get one, try a 2-litre drinks bottle with the end cut off. Shove it down the loo and "plunge" with it, this is what my boyfriend does as we don't own an actual plunger.0

Mash it down with a toilet brush, or buy a toilet plunger - then get going!Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

I know this is a long shot, but, have you got an old plastic curtain rail? I used to have a toilet that blocked if you put too much loo roll down and out of desparation one day this was the only thing that was long enough and pliable enough to get round the u bend and shift the blockage.
Worth a try if ou've got one.My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0 -
