Thanks Pap, Choc and Kel x

Ok then, I'm back - all be it slightly more bemused and crazy than before! We are holding it together at Pen Towers, probably with a bit more blu tak than normal but we are getting there.

On top of everything else going on, we had a typical daft week. The laptop died, the car played up, school were a pain in the a*s, a few family members tried to start ww3, DH is still out of work and there is no sign of the redundancy cheque and my boss is on hols just as we hit a particularly busy period .....

So I've had to spend - I've got a new laptop - JUST FOR ME! The old one is being repaired for general family use but this one is mine (which will be bliss and mean I can get on with all my study work without disruption). The car needed a few pennies and I've not had my eye on the ball with the groceries (perhaps I've been watching too much football!)

There is plenty in the house I need to be doing right now but I cannot be bothered so I'm sat here painting my nails ready to go out tonight. The dust and clutter will still be there tomorrow ..... :)
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Pen, I have seen you post for a long, long time and I smiled at this :D I am so glad you purchased something just for you. You give so much to your family and spread your finances very thinly in order to repay your debt. However you never give yourself anything, and most of the time you don't give yourself a break either... I am so happy you decided to purchase something just for you and something that will please/entertain yourself :A

    Keep going Pen :T

The laptop is all shiney and blue - on purpose cos the boys support 'red' foottie teams and won't touch it if its blue.
    Its lovely and its mine:rotfl:

Easy no-spend days for me today and yesterday. We had a really late night on Saturday so I couldn't be bothered to do much by the time I'd surfaced yesterday. Today I've been on a course all day (missing all that beautiful sunshine!) and haven't been close to any shops.

Declutter wise I had a good session on the paperwork last night and have a big pile to file and a load to shred. I'm going to get DH to mend the light in my big cupboard this week so that I can finally clear that out as I hate to think what is shoved in the back of it.

I should really be studying now but after the course today my mind has turned to jelly, so its off to put the kettle on instead :)

Day off today - perfectly coinciding with the foottie and sunshine. We did spend on groceries but it wasn't as bad as it could be even though I took DH with me  I treated myself to a nice colourful bunch of roses to bring a bit of cheer to the house as its still a bit subdued here.

Other than that I've had bedroom and living curtains down, washed, ironed and back up again. Plus I've had the light fittings down and cleaned them (they were sooo filthy).

I had a real panic about the finances earlier - wondering when this would ever end. I appreciate everyone is worried about the budget changes but it did bring a bit of a change of thought to me. I always considered us quite well off and that we must be stupid to be struggling like we have been - until I realised what they were calling a normal wage. We've earned a lot lot less than that over the last 2 years without any help and we've managed to scrape through, keep our heads above water and overpay a little as we've gone along. I am proud of us for not giving up and getting in a worse mess. All I need now is a light at the end of the tunnel (and perhaps the chance to drop one of my jobs one day :o)

So I've stopped worrying, re-set my budget for the month, set up the bill payments and overpaid a bit on the energy bill as I don't want to get caught out come December.

Feeling nice and organised now, just lazing about waiting for the boys to come home :)

  • Hi Pen :) It's always nice to have fresh flowers in the house (even better if someone else buys them but that never seems to happen lol) I haven't bought any for ages, I think I might on my days off.

Hope you've had a good day today xx

The roses are still looking good :D they make me smile.

I've had a shocking couple of days at home and I have had to have very stern words with my little family.

As a result of this I am on strike this weekend. I am refusing to do any housework or run them around anywhere. We only have 1 normal tea bag left at the moment ... lets see what happens when everyone else gets up and realises. I wonder if anyone will walk up the shop. I'm ok I'm half way through my morning brew and will be quite happy drinking green tea.

Apart from militant Pen, life goes on as usual. We are skint. DH nearly worked this weekend but it didn't come off. Hopefully we won't have much expenditure over the weekend (cos I'm not taking anyone out!). I've probably just enough to last until payday and cover all the bills due to come out before then.

I do need to get a nice bottle of wine for my mate who yet again sorted out all my PC hassles last week and rescued my college work from the broken laptop. I might wander up the local shop to do that - I'm going to see if I can leave the car on the drive until teatime when I need to feed Dad's cat for him.

Oh well - what to do with myself today. I might just have to venture into the garden and enjoy a good book and the sunshine :)
