I'd wait till Euro 2008, when there will be another upsurge in interest in England football memorabilia.
After that, and even between now and then, it will probably decrease slightly in value when players who have signed it leave the England team and eventually drop out of the public eye.

STill working through all the website stuff and putting my information in it. Can only do a bit at a time as I have just gone back to work after ages off so really tired. Hoping to finish it by end of next weekend then start selling stuff. Watch this space. No-one ever said it was easy but I don't mind hard work so long as I get to see the profits in the end and I guess starting it all up is as hard as it will ever get 'cause when I've been doing it for a while I may understnad not only what I am doing but hopefully what I should be doing as well!!

It's holiday season. I always find a little bit of a lull around this time of year. Picks up in September right up to Christmas (few small lulls).

Onto the 30K challenge. Sounds good.

Picking up bits and pieces and selling on is good, especially if you've got a good eye for things but £30k profit (like all the people have said before turnover is one thing profit is another) I think it will be very tough and lots of work.

Is there something that interests you or you know a lot about? Maybe go down a more specialised route. Means a more niche market and you do something you like. Also if you sell similar kinds of things or have a market and it makes it better for repeat customers as they'll come looking again (you may even set up a shop). If you sell random bits and pieces I found you don't get as many repeaters (other may find different).

My main point is if you are selling whatever you can get your hands on you are always in the research and development stage. You are continiously researching and trying to find things which is very time consuming.

If you went down a more specialised idea/find a wholesaler/make things you do a lot of initial rsearch it wouldn't be all the time. Obviously to keep your business fresh you still have to do R&D but not the way you do at the start.

Just some ideas. Trying to help you save time and increase profits. Though I admit at the start if you don't have much to invest, selling whatever you can gets you some more cash and gets your much needed feedback.

    Just some ideas.

    Good luck

If you going to sell items which most people sell then it going to be really hard to make 20k especially if you got a full time job as well. You will definitely need somone to help you. I would agree signed autographs etc are the kind of things you can easily make the profit without any hassle. I presume you can make copies of pictures etc with signed autographs you possess to sell on ebay.

As with regards with sales being poor on ebay, dont worry that happens. You get a week where hardly anything sells but the next week you cant list your items fast enough. Just watch out for start of holiday periods and after chirstmas as thats when its mostly quite.

I tend to aim for at least 50% net profit return on average but it all all depends on the time and effort i have to put in and the inital size and value of the item.
  • Good luck slade5x5! Interested to watch your progress.

Where do people get things to sell on ebay? Do they go to local wholesalers, or get them from online wholesalers? I'd like to start selling stuff on ebay but don't know where to buy things.
