Well guys i was getting a bit worried, none of my items were selling and i had only £10 from my first two sales to reinvest, but my main item has just started getting bids on it so that should hopefully give me about thirty to forty pounds of new capital to play with.
This is quite handy as i have just found a product that costs £30 but is selling on ebay for £50, so i can try and undercut them and hopefully still make aprofit of £12-£15 pounds each(i have found six.) So fingers crossed that my main item does well and also the five new items i put on thanks to my £10 worth of original sales being reinvested.

hiya, im glad its not just me!

most of my items are not selling either!!

which is really annoying - i hope ebay picks up soon!

plus postal chargers go up on august 21st so im trying to sell my bigger items first lol :o

Check your prices...heavy items might be cheaper under pricing by proportion, it is the cheaper things that currently cost less than £1 too post that are more likely to go up under the new scheme.

As for ebay being slow, I found that as soon as the temperatures dropped yesterday I started to sell my shop items again. Overnight I sold three items, which is good for me, and two of those had the best offer option but the buyers paid full price. On my items finishing tonight all but two already have bids and the two without bids have 2 and 3 watchers respectively, so fingers crossed.

Right guys just a quick update.

I went and bought five things yesterday from a local discount warehouse and have put them on with the rest of my household stuff.
Have a feeling that the first couple of months are going to be spent finding some good products to keep me going all the way through the project and then try and find the higher profit margin ones.
At the moment all of the bits i have bought will only be making aprofit of £1-£3 per item (after costs) but i figured that if these sell well it starts making some capital for me to spend on the more higher earning products.

    Will keep you updated...

Whats your ebay id ?, someone on here might be interested in your items and help you get to your total.

    Just a reminder:

    EXCHANGING PERSONAL DETAILS

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

This includes posting personal ebay id's. Sorry.

    Not really no.

I would also add a general caution about being too open about personal info on a public list. I picked up a stalker once and it came via a site like this where someone targetted my auctions maliciously. I don't suggest that anyone here would do anything silly, but this is a public forum and anyone can read it without signing in or registering.

Finally one of my new purchases have sold and after all fees and costs i will make in the region of 104% profit.
The profit and the released capital are going straight back into buying two of the original product that i sold so hopefully i will sell a few and get a regular line going.
Just a couple of quick questions aswell

    1. Is it wrong to make any profit on the postage costs or should i keep it to the bare minimum?
    2. How much should i put aside for tax? I have a rough idea but would like to know an exact figure.

    many thanks

good luck with this. my problem when i have found a little niche to make money on in the past is that some other git will discover it, undercut you, so your margins go down over time to compete. i've had a little item that i bought 40 of for £7.99 each about a month ago, the first handful sold for £17.99 including 'free' p&p (a first class stamp covers it), but i am down now to selling them at £11.99 to compete. still getting away okay on them, but i don't think i can risk buying another 40

there is no loyalty on ebay, if you're a power seller with 1000 feedback selling an item for a tenner, paying your taxes and your vat, most buyers will buy off wee jimmy with a feedback of 12 who sells them for 9.95. maybe a bit of an exageration, but you get my point.
