Good luck slade,
Just read this thread and wish you all the best. Some advice on what people have mentioned.
Free sim cards can be registered with various web sites through quidco etc to make £3 - £4 each then text STOP once your paid.
Try registering with Freecycle which is an email user group for unwanted items people are offering to prevent landfill. Excellent for packaging, Jiffy bags etc..
Use http://www.auctiva.com/ to list your items as the photo's are free.
Also regularly watch the grabbit forums or visit http://www.hotukdeals.com/index.php as this often prints mispriced items on the net. I recently brought 10 PS2 games for £2 each delivered and sold the next day for £15 each.
Hope this helps and good luck0 -

Everyone has their own sources, the trick is to find a niche that has very little in the way of competion.

hi.. just started reading this thread today....goodluck to everyone... i set myself challenge earlier on in the year to do a £1000...in 31 days..... but things went pear shaped.....i wanted to pay off one of my cc. with the proceeds.....i worked it out its only £32.25 worth of sales a day......thats excluding any paypal/ebay /postage costs....so this thread has inspired me to start....... especially from september onwards..as people are back off hols... and starting to think about christmas.....
30k in 2 years...... if you stay forcused..... and if the royal mail hike in postage costs dont put people off buying stuff on ebay......its very achiveable...........there are some people doing 70k a year plus.....Work to live= not live to work0 -

So if you were lucky enough on average to achieve 10% net margin after all costs, you'd have to be selling £322.50 a day, over £2100 a week, thats over £100,000 a year, thus you will have to register for VAT, income tax etc, which of course will eat into your profits....0 -

any wholesalers i've found are fairly naff. As Soolin says, try to find a niche that not too many other people are doing and run with it. Computers, DVD's, CD's, games etc are all played out.
I think a fair amount of people use this forum and others to find the bargains and then list them on ebay, handy for a little extra cash0 -
Any serious seller should be looking for a margin after all costs (including fees for items that did not sell) of 30% +, to do that you have to spend a lot of time researching the items you sell and make sure you are buying them at the best possible price. Also do not be put off by posts here about excessive postage, make sure you make a profit here, when I was selling £4.95 products I was making at least £1.25 profit on p&p, it all counts and soon adds up. I very rarely got a complaint.0

Been reading this thread and I'm selling on ebay to fund family holidays. We got back from last one mid July and hope to have just over £1000 by October. So far I've got just over £300 so a fair way to go!0

I'd agree, however i reckon there are a lot of power sellers etc working on a lot less than 30%. Good tip about the postage - for example its fairly common to see people selling dvds with £1.99 postage, they can be posted for maybe 58p plus the price of the jiffy bag.0 -
hi.. pgilc1... i dont understand where you are getting those figures from
..my aim was to raise £1k in one month.....which worked out at £32.25 sales per day.....i dont buy stock as such as i have collected over the years.....and now its time to move on.....and sell....so basically what ever i sell i now class as profit....and the amount that i charge for p & p.. covers costs....
i dont buy new stuff to sell on ebay....as you normally find that new stuff as got a level of pricing..... if you sell second hand or antique... then thats a diff... ball game as its what the buyer is prepared to pay for it...and there is no guide line price as such....( not like a new item....where the price margin between shops/sellers might only be a £ or 2 )
my £1k challenge was to try and pay off a cc....not to go into business...been there done that got the t. shirt....( with huge debt written on it )Work to live= not live to work0
