there is no loyalty on ebay, if you're a power seller with 1000 feedback selling an item for a tenner, paying your taxes and your vat, most buyers will buy off wee jimmy with a feedback of 12 who sells them for 9.95. maybe a bit of an exageration, but you get my point.

And being good MoneySavers, so they should! ;)

Well only 2 out of my 5 items that i bought to sell on ebay actually sold.
They both made over 100% profit but the three other items are a bit of a concern. I think i shall relist them and hopefully they will shift.
My items that did sell i shall be buying again and see if they keep on selling.
My most expensive item from home is finishing today and i am hoping that i should get between £20-£40 which i can then use to buy a lot more smaller items.

Fingers crossed and i will keep you all up to date...

    That is utter tosh.

I work on 35% gross margin on most of the stuff I sell, some I get over 100% and on fast moving items I might accept a little less. The caveat of course is the value of the item cheap items need higher margins than more expensive items.

The supermarkets make a lot of money on minute margins.
  • Very best of luck, I've sold a few items, but not often for much profit. Sometimes I'm amazed when I put something up which I think is a real bargain, only to find no one bids at all!

    Regarding clairehas' post:

Thanks for the tip off. I didn't get an email from eBay or anything. So I had to search.

Got this link, should this help anyone:
