culpepper wrote:One thing that puts me off bidding is when there is too much jargon about what the seller is and isnt prepared to do.For instance if they only post on a cetain day or if they will only accept returns within 7 days of end of auction.
Too many dictator-like rules make me think
What if I have a problem with the item?
This person is already dictating terms and they havent sold it yet.
I do this and dont see a problem, i can only get to a po on a saturday so advise item will be posted first saturday after payment is received.
Also i make it clear that items paid for by cheque will not be sebt out until the first saturday after the cheque clears
This way the buyer knows upfront when it will be posted.0 -

Also regularly watch the grabbit forums or visit http://www.hotukdeals.com/index.php as this often prints mispriced items on the net. I recently brought 10 PS2 games for £2 each delivered and sold the next day for £15 each.
I just had a butchers at this site (hotukdeals), and found this site listed: http://www.gainwardgamingzone.com
If it is to be believed, i could buy a bunch of modern games for £3.49 p&p each, sell on ebay for about £10 at a piece at least, and make a profit. Seems too straight forward to be true. Does anyone know about any pitfalls with this kind of thing?
Also, lots of talk about tax and ebay sales here, but what i wanna know is:
Do you really 'have' to pay tax? I mean, legally, you are obliged to of course, but i bet the vast majority of ebay power sellers never pay any tax."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
I think not declaring to the IR if you're selling significant volumes of new merchandise would be very risky, though you be right that most get away with it. I imagine those who tell casual acquaintances about what they do and use their real name in their eBay ID would be most at risk, not necessarily those who sell the most.0

You may wish to consider this point from the site T & C's:-
8.Returns Policy - If you buy goods, which have an unsuitable specification that was not apparent from our website, we will accept the return of the goods provided they are in a resaleable condition, and in the original packaging provided we are notified within 7 days of you receiving the goods. We will refund any money paid for the goods. Please ensure that you have the correct system requirements as the cost of shipping is non-refundable for items ordered incorrectly.
I would imagine that you would have to list as soon as they arrived, and for a very short time. Obviously the process from listing, awaiting payment to being received by end purchaser takes some time. One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -

Got a few copies of far cry off this site a while back- came in clear plastic sleeve, no box or manual. Haven't got round to listing them yet, unlikely to make any more than I paid for them.Just because you used to be you think everybody else is, don't you?0 -
That's what i was worried about...."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

Selling items in clear plastiuc wallets will get the attention of people very quickly who will report you for selling pirated copies. Ebay often work very quickly to warn, or suspend accounts of people they even half suspect are pirating.
It's probably not worth risking your ebay account over.
