I just had a butchers at this site (hotukdeals), and found this site listed: http://www.gainwardgamingzone.com
Thanks for the link. Looks like they are the versions of the games usually shipped for free with Gainward's graphics cards. Not suitable for sale on ebay as they are bundled software but great if you want a few cheap games.0 -
I think games, CDs and DVDs in thin plastic wallets look less suspicious nowadays, since Royal Mail introduced the PIP system which means the difference in postage prices between a slim package and one containing a standard game/ DVD/ CD case is now considerable. Some will still suspect piracy, whereas before PIP, they might have been almost certain of it.0

Plastic covers still denote a pirate. Most Post Offices allow DVD and CDs in a jiffy bag through as a large letter so there is no reason not to send them. In fact it is now cheaper to send them rather than under the old rules, so plastic is more likely to mean a pirate.

Just an update re: Gainward Gaming Zone, I ordered 3 games when I posted here last week and have just received them today. While one of them (Lego Star Wars) is just the disc in a clear plastic sleeve, the other 2 (Deus Ex: Invisible War & XIII) are full boxed games still sealed in shrink-wrap.
Nice bargain, and would be ideal for ebay, especially if you didn't want to play them first and could keep them sealed.
Given the recent release of Lego Star Wars 2 I'm sure you could probably sell the first one for 2 or 3 pounds as long as you mention in the listing that it's disc only. It doesn't say OEM or promo anywhere on the disc. If you can get cheap copies of the 2nd one I imagine including the first game free would help those sell too.
Thanks again to OP on this one, it looks like being a useful site.0 -

Mortgage Overpayments Pot £15870 -
When you buy from shops like Game, they keep the boxes on the shelves and discs in drawers, so it's possible to misplace one from the other. As long as listing states disc only and the printing isn't obviously dodgy I would not think the disc is a pirate. I could then keep the disc on a spindle, in a spare box or in a sleeve. The sleeve option is what I would post it in, to save on costs. Just be honest in your listings.:wall:0

Hi Guys
Well i am going to have to admit defeat in this one, i am spending all of my spare time searching for things and putting them on ebay and dispatching them.
While i have made just over £1000 i feel that the lack of time i get to spend with my family is far to big of a sacrfice so i am going to stop for now.
i will still sell the odd few things but other than that i am going to tone it down.
Well good luck to everybody else and i hope all the others meet their target.

I imagine those who tell casual acquaintances about what they do and use their real name in their eBay ID would be most at risk, not necessarily those who sell the most.
Are ebay not legally obliged to provide the taxman with ebayers information if specifically asked? Or are there privacy laws that restrict this?
There was mention of an Inland Revenue spybot on here a while ago that trawls ebay looking for tax dodgers. Surely ebay would have to provide the taxman with the sellers info once this spybot had identified likely suspects.
Or does the taxman then have to make a purchase of the seller to get his contact info? I suppose you'd better be worried if you have any buyers with user id's A.Taxman or Inland_Revenue

Aw...after reading this thread, I am depressed.
30K profit in 2 years does not look like a slam dunk (like what Bushmen said about Iraq & WMD).
Instead of just selling ordinary auction, wouldn't selling with dutch auctions+ebay store+wholesale behind help increase your volume?
