It shows as a credit search quatation.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

this might be a silly question but.... if e.g. you apply for a platinum barclaycard, but don't quite hit it, do they (potentially, if you do fulfil their scoring/requirements/whatever) offer a 'downstream' card or only ever do a straight decline?

They search Equifax only and it shows as a Table 2 search, so not seen by anyone else.
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.

  • Wat if u apply online and then it states that they cant get u an instant decision right now but will review it and let u know by post within 10 days. Then u get the letter which says u have been provisionally approved but just need u to send in 2 different forms of documentation to proceed. Does this mean theres still a possibility of being rejected?

    Thanks

Most probable that they would have rejected you by now...it's likely that they want to verify your identity.

yes you can still be rejected
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

why wouldn't they reject them before the proof of identity was sent in?

No I think you're wrong, unless the person cannot provide the required documents, then there should not be a problem

I've known of Barclaycard being sent in requisite documentation and then declining the applicant - this is usually down to a subtle address mismatch or discrepancy in time at address details and ER details on the applicants credit file, FWIW.

If you are Barclays customer, you coud have gone to branch and apply. You are likely to get an instant decision.
