I take soup in a flask x£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0
-
home made veg soup - you can keep it in a flask to keep warm0
-
i don't mind cold pasta - a simple tomato sauce mixed through cooked pasta would be good cold, as would an aglio-olio type (olive oil, garlic, herbs and chilli)0
-
also, you could make the sauce in bulk, freeze in individual portion sizes, take one out of the freezer on the morning and by lunch it would be defrosted and ready to mix into your pre-cooked pasta.
rice with left-over veg and meat/fish can be nice, too, as long as you make sure the rice is cooled quickly after cooking and refrigerated.0 -
bean salads, they are much more substantial in winter than most salady thingsLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0

i like rice, pasta and cous cous. i want something that can be made fairly quickly the night before, and something that will fill me up as i have a physical job.

I,m back to work tomorrow and wanted something a bit more than sandwiches, so in true OS spirit have bunged some sad looking mushrooms, a chopped onion, 3 left over peppers chopped up and a tin of chickpeas in the SC with some indian spices and a can of coconut milk for curry,s at work - I bought some pre-cooked rice at £land 3 for £1 which i will take to work to eat with it, i,m not veggie, but it smells lush and i,m sure my workmates will enjoy the wiff - not.....Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Madlyn, I think you have anwered your own question there. Pasta will fill you up. Mix with sauce add mushrooms bacon etc.
Make a big batch of this, you could freeze it. I have done so in the past or keep in the fridge for a couple of days. Add some further grated cheese before you microwave. I'm assuming you can heat this up at work.
If you can't then I'd go for cous cous with tinned fish (mackeral/tuna), and butter beans/canelloni beans (I know thats spelt wrong btw but hope you know what I mean)0 -
Hi All,
Apologies if this sort of thread has already been posted.
I often find the hardest thing for me to plan for is lunches. I'm terrible for taking food to work and then finding there is a really good soup on that day in the nearby shops (not very MSE)
The last few days I've been taking wraps into work and whilst these are good I'm finding myself hungry again a few hours later.
I will also take soup in when I've had the time to make it.
So I'm hoping to get some ideas for good healthy and low cost lunch ideas.0
