Obviously nobody seems to grasp Island_Man's frustration at not being able to get this to work because its not happening to you. This does not mean that it doesn't happen though as I have had the same problems and I have to agree with Island_Man that its not nice to be told he is throwing his toys out of the pram.
Instead of having a go at Island_Man on the boards I will pm Webby and ask him to pm Island_Man and see if they can sort it out.0 -

I can only assume that all the machines in the office are using lovely big monitors whereas mine is a little 15". I can confirm that the scrolling is annoying and I don't have to do this on another website I use often that uses the same software.
edited to add: the beige panel on the left hand side does seem wider again. When it was first introduced and there were complaints the size was reduced slightly whereas on this software it appears to be larger again?
I too am having the same trouble Ed/Lass, but I do have a 17" monitor and it doesn't make any difference.:)
I have tried the other resolutions etc, but the writting is too small and I cannot adjust it to get it right, so will have to do the scrolling and keep fingers crossed.:)0 -

Some of the posts contain large text and graphics. Maybe this is a clue. I haven't noticed it anywhere else. All the other pages in the same thread are OK.
I don't know if this might help but under User CP I went to Edit Options then scrolled down to:

Maybe worth a try?0 -
It would seem that as a result of my frustration with the screen which does not allow me (and others it seems) to read it without scrolling, I have allowed myself to cause affence to a minority of users of MSE. For that, I would like to apologise. I would hope that this conclude the thread and that everyone can resume enjoying and learning. However, even if I never mention the size/width of the page again, I believe there will remain a great many people who are left with this slight inconvenience.
I do acknowledge there are technical people prepared to try and resolve our problems, but to do this successfully requires an understanding of the computer, something many are not able to do. Fear that one clic could be one too many is not something any of us would enter into lightly, both for inconvenience and the expense of calling in someone to rectify the fault. As a result, there is still a reluctance to enter the unknown.
It hasn't escaped my notice that of those who have tried to resolve the problem themselves, give reports that font size etc has suffered. I personally am able to deal with that issue, but I feel for those who can't.That is why we should in my opinion, try to resolve the problem at source. sorry you are still having these problems and it was gracious of you to post an apology, which will hopefully settle things down.
I think it would be worth posting your problem one the tech board and hope that someone there will know what needs doing and can talk you and others through it.
It must be very frustrating, on the one hand it is only happening with this site but on the other not everyone is having the same problems. I came to this thread thinking it was the long link problem, but nooo.
I dont have the problem but I can 'preciate IM's frustration. Changing the screen resolution only shows a scroll bar on the lowest setting 640 x 480 so it seem the problem is due to another setting. Where is the Norfolk Tigger when u need him?
