Yeah it's funny now but very humiliating at the time
when I went to Debenhams I wasnt measured, I was fitted, big difference:D

I would have complained by the way, that is not on and they are there to do a job

La Senza were very accurate with me, whereas I went to debenhams last week and the lady said " I can't measure you properly as your boobs are in the way " :(

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? what did she think she was measuring??
I can understand why you woud feel bad after that, how incredibly moronic...It's difficult enough to go and get measured if you are quite shy/body conscious (I know I am!), you certainly don't need a pea-brained woman to make you feel embarrassed about it!
I think I would have complained to her manager.

Don't let it get you down hun, go someplace else. xxx
  • Depends how often you have a wash on, but one on, one off and one in the wash?

oh my god that is awful!!! Back in the day when i used a tape measure i just asked the lady to lift the breasts up so i could get underneath so to speak. Thats really not nice, she was obviously inexperienced and should have got someone else to help her and you. Although you cant be that big if you got bras from la senza?

ICE: Yes i would to start with. We don't go up to a H in strapless so ive not fitted anyone in one unfortunatly. As you know though H's vary so much so trying on is a must

LOL I didn't get them from there - just got measured. They don't do them in my size

Ive recently lost weight and noticed none of my bras seem to fit as my boobs have shrunk  a bit. I went to M&S but wasnt sure if they do fittings so went to Debenhams as I was fitted in a different town's store a few years ago. The lady looked at me, while I had my big coat on.. this is how it went
Woman: "What size are you in now"?
Me: "40D or DD - but Ive lost weight recently and my bras dont fit well"
Woman "You dont look small! () Try a 38D, go pick bras yadda yadda and we will see how they look"
I go pick a couple of bras, try them on. One fits horribly, the other not too bad, cup seems fine but big fat bulges under my arms. Take them out and woman is there. (The bras I mean! lmao! just read it back haha)
    Woman: "Well? Did they fit?"
Me: "Um.. no not really, this one is horrid and the other made me have bulges under my arms."
Woman: "Go put it back on and I'll come and look"
Did as I was told althought wnating to leave.. lol. Woman comes to see and says...
"Youve lost weight?" Me: "yes... and this is what I mean *pointing to bulges*"
Woman: "Well, you see... thats YOU, theres nothing I can about it".
Went to BHS and the woman said definitely NOT a 38D. Measured me as a guide and said I still seem to be the same size but maybe try some different styles and see what fits best etc. Maybe try an E cup. Went away with no bras :( Definitely wont try Debenhams here again!

I have loads of bras but only about four that I actually wear. As a larger lady, I now only ever buy Elomi bras - they are brilliant. So comfortable and supportive, and keep everything just where it should be! I get them from a local boutique but they are available on the Very website. If you look at the reviews, you will see people saying they are the best bras they've ever had, and I totally agree!
  • What a lot of awful experiences, who are these people? I would expect some one doing that type of job to be more sensitive and understand that the person being measured might feel uncomfortable and/or embarressed.

I have been measured up a couple of times, and never found it very helpful, so I usually just try and go shopping when its really quiet and try them on. I have found for some reason that bras the same size and make (in m&s) but in a different colour, can often fit differently.

I am now off to have a shower and try all my bras on. I will bin all those that don't fit or look tatty, and all those ones at the back of the drawer that I don't usually wear, put to the front! Sorted:)

How many pairs of knickers, anyone?????

    katiex
  • ohhh I have loads of knickers, but done of them match my bra's
