It's clear from the nightmare stories so far that it is quite legal to fleece punters of millions of pounds without providing the promised service. I've tried to cancel and have been put through to South Africa when I insisted on a refund for the unused modem whereupon the call centre experienced 'system difficulties' (hopefully overwhelmed by cancellations) and promptly cut me off. This has happened many times and don't be fooled by those extra numbers given out in this thread - they all ultimately lead to telephone hell.
TalkTalk are the new Ratners - cheap but rubbish.0 -
Please everyone should be aware that switching supplier is not as easy in the current climate. In order to swtich broadband you need to ask your current ISP for a MAC code. My ISP is Orange and as they are signed up to the Ofcom voluntary code of practice they must provide the MAC code within 5 workings days. However in their misguided quest to stop customers defecting to Talk Talk they keeping making excuses why they cannot give me it. I have waited 7 weeks now. I have lodged a complaint with Ofcom and I urge everyone else to do the same. Orange alone said they had a backlog of 1,700 customers which they were sitting on who want to switch but are prevented from doing so by them not releasing the MAC code within 5 days.
I advise if you can do without your broadband for 15 days, cancel the contract otherwise you are left at Orange's mercy.
This is a PR disaster waiting to happen for Orange as I would have considered switching back at some point but their attitude stinks. Is anyone else having problems????0 -

Like everyone else who has complained about this woeful company I had significant problems with their Customer Services, but there is an easy answer. Go to your local CPW and you will achieve the results that you require in a comparatively short period of time.
Having been migrated from my old ISP (Onetel) after the MAC code had exired, I suddenly found myself in no-mans-land. I had no internet access and I could not find anyone to talk to who could tell me when the modem and software was going to be delivered. Hence a visit to CPW and within four days I got these items delivered. Next problem, the automated service that reveals user name and password gave me the wrong password and the installation of the software came to an abrupt halt. So back to CPW and instant success.
Dont go into the shop all guns blazing, the people that I spoke to in the local branch were remarkably helpful. Despite feeling like ripping their heads off i didnt and was complimented for keeping my cool.
It would appear that the staff of this company are as frustrated as the customers who are waiting for installation.
Finally i am now in receipt of the BB service that I requested in April and received in August and I am chuffed to bits with it.Gary Peters Barmy Army!!!!0 -
- Wish to take up Talk Talk Broadband Forever offer,
- but when I try to enter my details, informed thatpostcode and phone number don't match
- Talk Talk say I should contact BT as there records must be wrong.
- BT say that I can't change my details, instead Car Phone Warehouse must contact BT on my behalf
- Car Phone Warehouse say the reverse: that BT Customer Services can simply check and amend my details if they are wrong.

Anyone in favour of an on line petition to send to OFCOM, with copy to T.T. and perhaps some other. These injustices need to be brought to notice to protect other and to let those companies, esp. T.T., see that the people will not tollerate being ripped off. Regards0

I assume that you have a BT line at the moment and if so then it should be down to BT as they have your records. If your bills were being sent to the wrong postcode, I bet they would amend your details in a flash.
When I first moved into my current property I had a hard time convincing BT of my address and postcode. They kept on saying that the address and telephone line that I was ringing them on didn't exist!0 -
Whoa - heady reading this and I can already feel my blood pressure rising...
JPW and Marky-Mark - all I can say to you is BLIMEY - you actually managed to get through to customer service!! Well done!
Forestlands - I had this too - TT have set up 4 yes 4 direct debits. I have cancelled 3 of them, but will keep an eye out. This is disgraceful. Surely this is not legal??? Are they going to keep setting them up so that they can take my money regardless of whether I am receiving any service from them?
rcj1959 - Nice to hear a happy ending, though I fear you are one of the very few, in fact, you are 1 of a kind. I have not heard of anyone else who is connected and happy with TT.
I have today emailed them (surprisingly havent been able to get through on the phone for 3 days) and told them that they have 7 days to resolve my issues or I shall be cancelling my broadband order.
I guess we should have known that they were all Talk Talk and no action.0 -
If you are a masochist and like being on hold for long periods when you could be doing something more productive (like plucking out your pubic hair), if you like being connected to inept sales representatives in far-flung shores, if you like being transferred from dept to dept without getting a clear answer, if you like paying for a non-existent service,if you like being promised something in April and there's still no-show by August then SIGN UP TO TALKTALK! They do all of the above and lots, lots more!0

The above is a link to an on-lin petition to force a watchdog to take action. It says it is not currently active but it is. Another petition can be found at https://www.talktalkhell.com The more names they get the more chance we have of saving other souls from this virtual helll!!!0
