1st time poster in this area of the forums but i couldnt resist the thread title.

after a bad year, including losing my job, a long and continueing illness and a generally poor financial situation my wife came up trumps to put a big smile on both our faces:D .

3 months ago she started paying £1.00 per week into a works "Holiday of a Lifetime Competion". we dicided it would be worth it as we dont do the lottery or anything like it. on her 1st eligable entry she was a :TWINNER:T

so thats £2500.00 in vouchers(which is as good as cash-not the crappy restricted ones).

the day before, as a big thank you to her for being my rock and best friend aswell as my wife i had bought her a big bunch of flowers and some choccies.

we really couldnt afford it but i had to do something for all she's been to me over the years and what she's been through with me in the last year.

she was delighted and the win the following day was amazing.

we are on a high that we havnt been on since our wedding day :j

well today i spent a little money in asda that wasn't on my budget exactly, but within my means.

also just did my weeks shopping including washing tabs and a couple of cleaning bits. it came to £14 odds (including delivery fee) but i used £7.50 of coupons that had been feeding the moths in my wallet so it's only costing £7.19 nearly half price :j i haven't ordered online in over a year and since my ex left i've struggled home with shopping most weeks :( so thought i'd spoil myself this week!

oh and i'm just away to finish sorting out my bank statements before i check out the letters to claim back my charges so i may be back shortly to ask advice!
  • I started to study Japenese, my first class was yesterday and it was great fun. The teacher is a scream. I enrolled in the Certificate course which was a cheaper option than the conversational one and with a concession get 19 classes for $75. After two years I'll have a Certificate II in japanese. I think it is money very well spent and it fits in nicely with my campaign of HAVING MORE FUN (on the cheap)! There are heaps of lessons on the internet to help me with pronunciation and I can use travel time to work and back to study. Who knows one day I may get to Japan.

Glad to hear everyone's good news.

Thank you to MSE contributers who are a great help to keep me motivated to take care with my spending.
