Not sure if this would be better on a new thread? However, here goes.

My wife and I are planning a golfing holiday to the Kissimmee area between 25th January and 8th February 2007.

Can anyone advise on reasonably priced golf courses we can play in an area of say 50 miles around Kissimmee. By reasonable I mean under $50 per round (preferably much less!!) (that is including everything like carts etc). We will be taking our own clubs.

We are not too bothered about the standard of the course, e.g.We have played once at Kissimmee Golf Club next to the little Municipal Airport and found that to be a good course but it doesn't rate highly on some web sites I've viewed.

We are not bothering with the Theme Parks this time so don't mind a bit of travelling about.

Also, are the golf courses busy at that time of year (End Jan/early Feb), will we need to book tee times before we leave the UK?

    Many thanks in advance

    Gerry

Probably the most expensive time to play golf in Florida. Check out this web site for a comprehensive list of courses here there is a list down the left hand side with a link to details of each course and their rates, estimates for 2007 though! Type the names of the clubs you like the look of in google and you'll know doubt find their own web pages as there are no direct links on that site. To reduce the cost check if they offer twilight rates, we've used these and only once failed to complete the whole course before it got dark.

    Personal favourites include:
Timacuan - at Lake Mary about an hours drive from Orlando, near Sanford Airport
    Courses at Orange Country National
    Stoneybrook
    Hunters Creek
    Falcons Fire

One that doesn't come to highly on my list isDubsdread. That only thing I can remember from it is one hole where cars drive across the fairway about 100 yards from the tee. So it's a case of line your shot up, look left and right and hit the ball before another truck passes by

Avoid June as so bloomin' humi, although the actual temperatures were fine you were wringing with sweat in minutes just sat doing nothing!!

I've been a few times to my place in November & December - Nov has def been that bit more predictable & warmer than December. As for the parks & shops - they were empty as well!!

    cheers ;)

Not exactly true as the parks and shops are very busy over Thanksgiving especially the shops on black friday. Once that weekend is over then the parks and shops are empty. For example, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, we did everything in IOA inside 3 hours.

what do you guys suggest doing about flights?

is it best to book as soon as poss? (is it 11 months in advance they are released?)
or leave it til later ?

There's no correct answer to this one! Generally I keep looking all the time, and then make a call when I think that they are as cheap as they're going to be.

This year, for example, the desired flights (American Airlines via wherever), for October, were coming up around £420.00. Suddenly, they dropped to £333, including tax, so I pounced and bought them.

On this occasion, this seems to have been the right move, as they are now up to £380, but there is nothing stopping AA doing another flight sale later in the year, but I think that £333 is pretty much unbeatable (as it is including taxes as well!)

We are returning to Florida this year but are looking for a beach holiday. We are travelling with a 13 & 9 year old. Any suggestions to which is the best area along the Gulf Coast? & Best time of year. Last year we went in May but found the pool could sometimes be chilly.

    The kids love snorkelling/watersports.

    Any suggestions would be grateful
