  • Anyone going to Florida, or indeed any other Disney holiday MUST visit mousesavers.com. It is a really fab website that is recommended in Fodors books on Florida. There is so much info in it and as the title suggests, it is packed full of money saving tips.

Re going to Florida on your own-have you looked at packages from Virgin? I have been several times and have looked at pricing things up individually compared to a package, and I dont think there is much in it (plus booking with a holiday company is a lot less hassle). Good luck!

  • Can anyone help with my search for a decent hotel. I'm looking for a suite rather than the motel style rooms you see in so many of the hotels. Although I love my two children the thought of spending 2 weeks cooped up in the same room with 4 & 7 yr old boys does not appeal! So I'm looking for a room that would have a seperate living area at least so we get some time to relax when the kids are in bed, and preferably with basic kitchen area. Has to be in good central location as well.

I don't mind paying a bit of a premium over just a motel style room but looking for something reasonablish, has to be very clean (got a bit of a Howard Hughes habit for cleanliness!).

I keep deciding on a hotel only to read loads of bad reviews on other sites, holidays uncovered is good for this by the way.

Looking to go away first 2 weeks in October.

Other thought I had was for a townhouse, if anyone has any opinions on these as well that would be great.
  • Why not rent a private villa instead? You'll probably find the cost pretty much the same yet get much more personal space.

    cheers ;)

I'd go for a villa. Not sure if they do 2 bedroom villa's in the States (far too small for the yanks!) but maybe a 3 bedroom? You'll get more space, normally a private pool, TV etc, and I doubt it would cost any more than a suite in a hotel.........

Here's a good idea too - a townhouse. Looks to be a good price too.

Avoid Enclave Suites on I'Drive. We stayed there a few years ago and did not think it could be as bad as the reviews said as the photos always looked lovely but we were wrong. This year we are staying at the Country Inn & Suites, not too expensive and we have booked a Kidsuite so we have a king bed, micro, tv fridge etc and they have a seperate walled off area with bunk beds, tv playstattion etc. HAve also stayed at the Ramada Inn All Suites bY Sea World where we had 2 seperate bedrooms, 2 bathroom, living room and full kitchen but could not find a tour operator that had them on there brochures this time.
  • Thanks for your replies.

I am starting to think a villa is the way to go. For even a reasonable suite I'm looking at around £1500 for the 2 weeks and I guess I could get a good villa for that?

I was hoping that being in a hotel there would be other children for mine to mix with. I'm now perhaps thinking of a villa or a townhouse on a complex or gated community. That way there should be more facilities for the children. Could anyone recommend one that they have stayed in?

A good resource is https://www.thedibb.co.uk Plenty of owners advertise their villas on there and there's a whole forum dedicated to it..........

You could have booked online, and probably saved a bit as well.

Unfortunately booking seperates would have more expensive for me as I have 3 kids and booking flights for 5 people worked out more expensive than the package deal we were offered as we are only paying £199 in total for each child.
