niceshoes wrote:Hello there,
I have managed to get a price for a 2 week holiday to Florida, for the following price. What I want to know, is can I get the price down anymore! And thats where you experts at saving money come in!
Depart London Gatwick - Orlando on 11/11/2006, 14 nights, leaving Orlando on 25/11/2006.
4 adult fly drives and 1 child fly drive is costing £1553.00 includes car hire and all the nescessary insurances
2 weeks accomodation is costing £500 in Kissimee, this is being rented from a friends sister.
Total cost for 2 weeks in Florida, car hire, insurances and accomodation is £2053.00
Now I think that this is a great price for 2 weeks in Orlando, but having never been before, I wondered if the price could be beaten.
Can we get to Florida for any less, is my question?
Thanks for your reply - have booked the holiday this morning, as everyone I spoke to, said that they couldn't even come close to the price! Thanks everyone.Nice Shoes & Expensive Designer Handbags, are my downfall!0 -
nice shoes
where did you get your flights from?0 -
We booked the flydrives with Travel City Direct. Total cost was £1553 4 adults and 1 child, for 14 nights. This included the platinum insurance but just a basic car - will see about upgrading if we need to when we get to the airport.
British Airways quoted us £1448 and Virgin £1442, but none of them included car hire and insurances.
Got some other quotes with different airlines and travel agents, and no one could come close.
Hope that helps x

TCD are cheap, they fly into Sanford and use Dollar. If you want to upgrade the car do it before you go, they will give you 'special offers' when you get there, but it is much cheaper to do it before you go.0

Just a note if you upgrade the car with TCD it will cost a lot more. Take some english choccies and ask nicely whats the best price they can upgrade you to 7 seater or so. As a guide a 7 seater is costing me £372 for 2 weeks with two drivers and full tank of petrol. When we last went TCD we upgraded car there at a cost of $11 a day to a 7 seater. It would have costs us about £200 over here.
Also TCD will charge you to double your baggage allowance (17kg per person), for meals and pre booking seats. All these are free with Virgin who have a whooping 62kg baggage allowance per person.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

The rates for upgrading are in the TCD website and worth checking, lookign at other car suppliers may not cut may costs espially as you have already booked. From my expeirence it has been much cheaper to upgrade over here. If you go through the booking process agian where you choose the car you can see the different rates.0

I
The car we have booked will fit everyone in, the upgrade would be considered if we felt we needed a bit more space, so its no big problem.
Thanks anywayNice Shoes & Expensive Designer Handbags, are my downfall!0 -
If anyone else is reading tihis and wants cheap car hire, https://www.easycar.com use Alamo and the rates they quote do include CWD, they are very competitive.0

I've always found it cheaper to book the smallest cheapest car and upgrade to the car I want at the desk. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0
