  • Can someone move this to the Travel board, will get more responses there me thinks
2p off is still 2p off!
  • Travel City direct do fly from gatwick but from what I can gather from the three boards I'm a member of -I'm going to Orlando in May they don't have a good reputation and I think you can only book for 14 nights

Try the big one's like Ebookers,Opodo,Expedia -you might also be able to shave a bit of by using the money back links on quidco.com. Also look at cheapflights.co.uk,dialaflight.co.uk.

    I've been Money Tipped!
A lot of the PAYG phone in the US will not accept internatioal calls, so if you are just going top call each other it is fine, but if you want to make or recieve international calls you have to be careful which sim card you get. There is someone who sells the T-Mobile cards you can get before you go for £20 including some credit, I am sure someone will post the link.

I have a T-Mobile Togo (PAYG) sim for when I'm over at my house in Florida. I can receive and make international calls but it is expensive as you are charged in the US for receiving a call to a mobile phone. You could just text each other (25p/text) but I noticed a time lag of up to 20 minutes in receiving a text from a UK mobile in the US. Alternatively, you could buy 2-way radios. Wal-mart sell a pack of two 10 mile range ones for about $60 (Perfect for Disney and the like). It just depends how far away you are from each other when you discover you are lost!

We bought a couple of those 2 way radio thingys in Walmart last year for $20 and are excellent. It depends whether you need for actual call or texts or just incase you loose each other over there (which is very easy to do..lol). I have 2 here you can borrow if you'd like. Just let me know and can send them to you to use whilst over there.

I know eveyone says it's cheaper to book everything separately & arrange it all your self rather than book a package but I'm just scared of it going wrong!
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

We have always shopped around for Orlando holidays and on each occasion tried to book flights etc ourselves but have always found it cheaper to book package deals otherwise the flights for the kids are almost as much as the adults. I tend to keep a look out for operaters doing special deals and then phone several and get the best deal. The price for our 2006 holiday was initally priced at £3800.00 but with a few hours of calls we got it down to £2700 which includes insurance and a 7 seater min van through Jet Save flying with virgin

If you can wait until the last minute, there are some great flight bargains on Teletext. A few years ago we left it until a week before we wanted to fly and got a fly drive package for £119 each.

The flight was with Britannia and when we got to check in we managed to get an upgrade for £40 each, each way - first class in the nose cone of the jumbo jet !
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • I too was scared-off in organising an Orlando holiday, however, the savings are large. I've booked:

    6 flights @ £300 return with BA
14 days in Villa - 5 Beds 3 Bath and oversized pool £840 (through thedibb)
Car hire still to do but reckon on £400

So for just over £3000 we are there. NOW for research on park tickets!!

    Regards

    Hello,

I have been reading this discussion for ages and the last few posts are very interesting.

The last two times we went to Orlando I tried to book everything ourselves, but couldnt get cheaper than Travel City Direct, cos of the cost of flights with everyone else. (We found them fine, but that was in May 2003, although the flights with Britannia were crap !!)

We are going this year at end July/beginning of August, but TCD are still coming up the cheapest. In November it was £4,500 all in with TCD for 4 adults and 2 children staying in a 3 bed villa with a 7 seater van. Now this has gone up to £5,000, but with Virgin it is now only £5,500 (only !!) cos of 1/2 price children and £280 online discount.

Also, sorry - Does anyone know of the websites to look for the cheaper holidays during School Holidays (Government incentive thingy) ?
Minmouse - is your 2006 holiday in the school holidays? Just interested how you managed to find it cheaper. Been trying for ages to get a cheaper price.

Poppy9 - I have tried on Airline Network, but couldnt find cheaper than TCD, but guess it is cos we have to go at peak time of year - Again, just wondered how you managed to find it cheaper !!

Sorry for the long post. Any replies would be most welcome.
