early July was mega hot .
late September was pleasent but too cool for swimming in the afternoon.
July was also hurricane dodging season but it was still great fun.0 -
By booking my holiday myself I managed to beat the TCD price easily.
My flights are with Virgin (free seat booking, 32k baggage allowance, goodie bag) via airline-network. My apartment also through airline network (saw it TCD brochure) plus car hire from same company. Total price £100 cheaper than TCD plus the car is a 7 seater minivan with extra insurance not an economy car with basic insurance from TCD. If I had upgraded the TCD holiday for bookable seats, double baggage, 7 seater car etc it would have cost me another £300.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

TCD are the worst company - ever.
Do a search on the internet to get some reviews.0 -
Jan, Feb & March (avoiding Easter when it shuffles around) are super cheap - as is November & first half of December.
cheers

My husband and I are going on holiday to Florida (Gulf Coast) with - strangely - my parents, as I am too scared to drive over there!!
We are going to want our own space, but are sharing a car - so I can see how handy it would be if we both had mobiles ("I'm lost, see you at the car in an hour" etc!).
Since I live in the Channel Islands, I have previously bought a few cheap UK PAYG Sim cards - when in England I just trade my Guernsey sim card for a UK one, so my phone works!
Can I do the same thing in Florida with a Florida Sim Card?
I have 2 mobiles, both are the "tri-band" that I think means they work in the US. I went to Ebay.com and looked for US Sim cards and it looks rather confusing - do sim card arrangements work differently over there? Is there a cheap company with good coverage?
Thanks for any help, I am a bit over my head here!0 -
Remember is you use you current sim card on your tri-band phone you will pay for the call via England so it will cost you a fortune.
One alternative could be to buy a pay as you go phone when you get there. In December Walmart had a virgin mobile PAYG Nokia for $20 and 7Eleven had one for $30. Sorry don't know how swapping sim cards works.0 -

Hi Fran,
My parents have a villa in Florida so fly out there 2/3 times a year (lucky wotsits!) Im not sure about particulars of prices but I know that they haven't been able to beat the prices given by Travel City Direct for fly drives going out from Manchester and flying out to Sanford Airport, Orlando- could be the same for London airports? Sanford isn't a huge airport and there isn't much there but it does seem to be cheaper to fly into. Not sure what others have found?
Because they are flydrive prices there is no discount for kids but when we took our two we still couldn't beat the overall price.
Also, Travel City offer extras such as double baggage allowance (£15 i think?)for getting all the stuffed toys and cheap pairs of jeans home - rather than paying an excess baggage fee on each kg you have gone over (and it is more easily done than you think!!)
Hope this is helpful and you have a fantastic holiday!0 -
Forgot to mention that you can use there website for a price rather than their phone number, I can't be sure but think it might be premium rate?0
