I think we should leave the thread as it is as it does inform first time Florida holiday makers that there is more out there.
I think the first time people go they are going for the parks but would like something more - they just don't know what.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I agree, why not have two stickies. I don't really want to wade through pages of how to get cheap Disney tickets or the best Disney hotel deals.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Alot of it is just sheer patience wading through pages and pages of rentals but I have found a few on:
Great Rentals
Vacation Rentals
Villas 2000“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

I can see both POV.
BUT, for the Mouse Lovers, the same questions come up again and again and again (and in all fairness, get answered again and again and again) and I'm fairly sure that someone who was looking for info on a holiday in Florida without the Mouse would soon give up after wading through the same Mouse related posts - before they found the nuggest of info that would help them.0 -

Vacation Rentals By Owner is another possible source as well.
Plus, if you can track down a property thats being rented by a Brit, and you do the transaction in £'s, in the UK, you can also avoid the Florida sales tax.
Also, keep an eye on the pool heating charges and the cleaning charge - bith of which can be substantial.0 -

Thanks Phillippa, villas 2000 seems to be showing some good availability at good prices, £300p/wk in August cant be bad, really want to be North of Tampa, Hudson and New Port Richey area looks ok, thanks again, back to the search !!0 -

I stayed here in Nov 2006 and very nice it was as well. It's quite a bit more money than you were looking at, but the price reflected the quality (IMO)
The villa is sitauted in Palm Harbor, to the north of Tampa.
Plus, they're Brits, so the Florida sales tax doesn't apply.0 -
Hi everyone, after some advice.
My OH wants to take his son and me away sometime in the school holidays and wants to go florida. Just wondering if some of you experienced florida visitors can give some advice on booking with travelcitydirect and whether we should book hotels seperately? We have kind of ruled a villa out as there is only us two adults and a child.0 -
Vanilla8 you're in the same boat as us. 2 adults, one 10yr old. We also want to go in August, last two weeks of the summer holiday but don't know where to start. Ideally we would like to do a week of mouse/similar and a week somewhere else....everglades?, keys?, gulf?
From reading some of the advise so far I have gathered that it can be cheaper to book a flydrive but then don't take the car as they charge well over the odds on insurance and if you need a car then book it independently. I'm looking forward to reading some of the responses to your post as they would apply to us too.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -

Cheers MTC, that was the sort of price I was expecting to pay, but prices do seem to be heading downwards as we get nearer to the date. I guess something is better than nothing !! It is available for our dates so might make an enquiry and see how it goes, Thanks again0
