we have just come back from Florida and we got really cheap flights from B.A,but had to fly from/to Miami. We stayed the first night in Fort Lauderdale and then drove next morning to Orlando. On the way home we did it all in one go and took 3.5 hours-theirs hardly any traffic on the road-it's a toll road and cost us about 14 dollars-all in all it was not to bad and worth the savings we got on the flights-anybody would like any more information about theme park tips etc let me know!!

Hi bj, I don't know if this will help you but we were looking at flights in July (REALLY Peak Season) and the best deal we got was with https://www.chartertravel.co.uk, I input all my requirements and then someone rang me with their best deals. Despite their name we managed to get BA flights cheaper than Charter flights through them, although we are flying into Tampa and out of Orlando International, but that's not a problem for us. They seem to be able to look up all the airlines that fly to Florida. They also did us a good deal on car hire too. Hope this helps. I know what a minefield it is because I spent ages on the web and the phone trying to get the cheapest flights because there are 10 of us going (No group discounts!!!!)
  • Thanks for all these suggestions, I shall look at the 2 recommended websites. The flights we were offered cheap to Miami are now not available, now I've worked out the geography - aaaaagggghhhhh! This is going to drive me mad!
  • I got my flights through them too Elljay, I think it was Finish Rich that put me onto them on MSE in the first place. I dealt with a really nice girl called Tracy and she was very helpful with lots of advice and we are flying in July with American Airlines.

Best bit was only having to pay a deposit on the flights too as when I was looking through Opodo etc had I booked you were required to pay for the flight there and then. :)
  • BJ, just a quick tip but jot down the phone numbers for Chartertravel from the webpage as when they email you they give you 0870 numbers which are more expensive to phone :)
  • Nice one Edinburghlass - I don't phone 0870s - it's against my religion!!!

    Hi

We always book through Mercury Travel. Family have property out there, we always fly with Virgin, and have been with mercury 5 times now. Ask for a man named toby.

    Thanks

    Hi Again

    Yes website is: http://www.mercurytravel.net

They will beat all prices and have recomended many customers to them. They only use Virgin, but can pick up a flight on economy with free drink and food throughout the flight for normally about £280 return for december time. My folks bumped us up to premium economy last time we went and was about another £350 each, but had much better seats and bonuses!!

If you call, ask for Toby..he's a sweety and say Amanda recomended me...he'll probably say..ohh not her again!! LOL, but he's a scream..your know what I mean when you talk to him :D

They are also unbeatable on villas with pools, hotels and attraction tickets and of course car hire. If you would like any further help please PM me. :p

    Good Luck

  • I was shopping around for my honeymoon fortnight in florida and the price Mercury gave me was £320 more expensive than using virgin holidays. I always find that the absolute cheapest way is to shop for a flight from one company and then hotels from another etc. A lot of these so called cheap deals arent actually that cheap.
