Hi, just to let you know, after a good look around the web, the cheapest theme park tickets I found online were from http://www.themeparkticketsdirect.com/

However I wanted to grab the extra freebies from with Attraction Tickets Direct - see http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/special-offers.htm

So I asked Attraction Tickets Direct (ATD) to price match the Theme Park Tickets Direct (TPTD) prices, which were much cheaper.

We booked 2 x 5 Park Orlando FlexTickets @ £125 each and 2 x Disney 14-day Ultimate Tickets @ £159 each and saved £36 off the advertised ATD prices.

Just send ATD an email with the prices you have found from TPTD and they will even phone you back to book at your preferred prices!

Check at Disney if you can convert your 14 day ticket to non expiry. Costs about $50 but I doubt you will use all your disney days as teh 5 park flex ticket gives you 14 days access too. The first time we went to Florida we found that there is so much more adult fun in Universal that we needed 5 visits, we spent 1 in Seaworld, 1 in Busch Gardens and none in Wet & Wild as we didn't have time. We were much more stingy with tickets on the next visit and really planned and thought about how many days tickets we really needed. Luckily first time we went all Disney tickets were non expiry so we used the unused days up on second visit.

Has anyone stayed on Little Gasparilla Island on the Gulf coast? If so what did you think of it? We are thinking of going in August.

    Thanks

Does anyone know whether I can get park discounts for my disabled son? In lots of places in the UK he pays a reduced rate and I go free as his carer. I was hoping that Disney would do a concession for him.
  • Disney tickets from the shopping mall in Orlando has anyone had any experience ?

As i saw them 2 years ago after i had purchased my tickets in the UK.

It must be cheaper to buy tickets there ?

My kids want to take their Nintendos on our forthcoming trip. Does anyone know if I can charge them with an ordinary travel adapter, or do I need to buy a voltage converter.
    Thanks

Last time i went, i tried out one of those timeshare presentation things. They promised reduced rate tickets before i signed up. You need to haggle the final price with the agent before you go to the presentation which will pick you up from your hotel and back.

I think i saved a few hundred dollers on 5 tickets a few years back. Well worth the 2-3 hr presentation rubbish. Free hotdogs etc there too.

Unfortunately not. Here is a link with some info you may find useful. http://goflorida.about.com/cs/disneyworld/a/wdw_special.htm
  • Hi,

Sorry this is quite long but I don't want to miss anything important out & I'm so stressed about this. It is (kind of) money saving, but I'm desperate! :(

Have just received our tickets etc. from Virgin for our holiday on 12/07. Leaflet inside the ticket pack states 'please check that the name on your tickets, matches the name on your passport'. Checked tickets etc. and noticed A - our middle names were all missing, but more worringly, B - my first name is double-barrelled (e.g. Kelly-Marie) and they have only put the first bit & the surname on my ticket (e.g Kelly Smith). Rang Virgin to check and got through to (no offence), an Indian sounding man who could not really understand a word I said or vice-versa. Explained about the middle names & he said not to worry as that's ok, but put me on hold to check about my name. Came back after about 5 mins & said he did not understand, so explained it again & he put me on hold again.

Came back after about 10 mins & said I would have to pay £80 as the names did not match & they must match. I was so angry & politely explained that when I booked, I gave Virgin all the full names & they must have thought the second bit of my first name was a middle name and have missed it off (as with my DH & DD's middle names). He just kept repeating himself & saying "I understand & sympathise but you must pay the £80 or you will not be able to travel". In the end I put the phone down & said I would have to speak to my Husband as this was totally unacceptable, as it was their fault.

Was in a right state as we cannot afford £80 for nothing (& don't see why I should have to when it's their fault) and I was off work that day as I'm pregnant & have been really suffering with morning (or should that be all-day) sickness.

Left it 10 mins and rang Virgin again but rang their main helpline instead of just the ticket problem one. Spoke to a lady who was really helpful and apologised profusely for what the man had said, and said I would be ok as long as the first name and surname matched my passport. I said "well, the first bit of the first name & surname match!". She said not to worry and that it'd be fine.

Explained it all to my DH when he got home who also said not to worry & that if she said it would be fine, it would be fine.

Sorry if I sound totally paranoid, It's just we've been planning this holiday for 2 years & I don't want anything to go wrong! Them stopping us at the airport & not letting us board would be my worst nightmare.

I'd be so grateful for any advice as I can't relax until I know it'll be ok!

    Many thanks,

    BK x

Personally, and I speak with no authority on the subject, I'd think (a) you probably will be ok but (b) always get it in writing - an e-mail or a letter. If I were you I'd keep ringing back until you got that OR new paperwork. Half the fun of going away is looking forward to it, and if you can't do that for worrying.....

    Hi,
I wouldn't worry about it. We never give our middle names even though they are on our passports.

The missing Marie won't matter either, when you check in Virgin will take your details from your passport. As long as your passport doesn't say Kelly and your tickets say Dave then you will be fine.

    PS Have a great holiday.

70 days until we go. :)
